Why evil things happen in the world

A complaint commonly heard today is why does an all powerful God allow evil to happen on earth. Though this argument is often used by atheists to disprove the existence of God, Pew Research Center recently surveyed Americans to discover if the average person blames God when bad things happen? Its survey of 6,500 Americans in September, that included nearly 1,500 Evangelicals, found that the majority do not blame God when terrible things take place, such as the recent COVID pandemic that saw millions die. According to Christianity Today, the survey revealed several interesting results: 86% of Americans believe (44%) or somewhat believe (42%) that ‘sometimes bad things just happen.’ 70% of Americans believe that bad things are consequences of our own decisions; 70% also believe that bad things happen because of the way societies are structured; 70% believe men have a free will that allows them to act contrary to what God wants us to act; and 80% believe in the Biblical God (58%) or a higher power (22%), but say that suffering is …

78 | What the Septuagint Bible tells us about fallen angels and spiritual warfare

We are living in perilous times as governments of all political stripes seem intent on restricting people’s liberties and freedoms, either under the guise of protecting us from COVID or banning speech that some consider offensive, because it disagrees with their beliefs. In this podcast, I discuss the Septuagint’s odd translation of a Bible verse in Deuteronomy that may help explain why this is happening.

Poll: The vast majority believe governments should not force Americans to violate their religious beliefs

A recent poll by Summit.org, found that the vast majority of Americans believe in religious freedom, despite the messages we are receiving from the mainstream media and some politicians, that Christians must bow to secular authority and opinions. The poll, conducted by McLaughlin and Associates, asked 1,000 Americans, who were likely voters, if they agreed with the statement that government has the right to force religious people to participate in practices that would violate their religious beliefs. Seventy-five percent said that the government does not have the right to force a person to violate their religious beliefs, and only 16% believed that government should be able to do this. Of course, once politics were thrown into the mix, the number varied, with 80% of Republicans and 78% of Independents stating the government does not have the right to violate a person’s religious beliefs. While still in a clear majority, only 64% of Democrats held the same position. And in a second question, people were asked if they agreed with a statement by America’s founders “that …

Don’t be intimidated

This fall, there have been several reports of attacks on Christians in both North America and around the world. Some have died for their faith. It would be easy to be intimidated by this, but God wants us to “to take courage.” Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27:14 ESV) Here are a few of the stories: In Compton, California, Reginald Moore, the 65-year-old pastor of Upper Room Christian Church was shot and killed on Oct 24, 2021 as he was leaving his church after leading a Bible study. Members of the church said they refused to be intimidated by the violent attack. In Nashville, TN, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced that it is offering a $1,00 reward for any information on who was behind the Molotov cocktail thrown at Axis Church on Sept 13, 2021. Though the firefighters were able to put out the fire before it destroyed the building, it nevertheless damaged the sanctuary and the equipment the …

Actor Chris Pratt says listening to Christian music relieved his depression

In a recent Instagram post, Hollywood actor Chris Pratt stated that as he was going through a recent bout of depression, he listened to Christian music while jogging, and it provided an almost immediate release for the actor famed for his leading roles in Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Premier Christian News reports that the depression started after an uproar over an earlier post Chris had made, where he thanked his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, for giving birth to a healthy daughter. He was immediately attacked by trolls who accused Pratt of mocking his previous wife who had given birth to a son nine weeks early, who consequently experienced health issues including visual impairment. Of course, this was not Pratt’s intent, but the trolls were relentless and had previously gone after Chris because of his Christian faith. In his post, Chris explained what happened: “Good morning, everybody. I went to bed last night really kind of upset and depressed, and I woke up feeling crappy, and I didn’t want to work out. “I …

Three keys to victory in spiritual warfare

In a recent article on God TV, Rhoda Gayle discussed a sermon by John Kilpatrick who is head pastor of Church of His Presence in Daphne, AL. Pastor Kilpatrick shared that there are signs that spiritual attacks against Christians are increasing. He told his audience, “The level of warfare is definitely increasing. You can think back to when you were much younger, you can think back to whenever you have a much simpler life…  Today, everything has changed.” We know from the book of Revelation, that Satan’s attack on believers will become more overt and aggressive in the end times. But out of this heightened warfare will emerge a group of believers who conquered or overcame satan: 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even[a]when faced with death. (Revelation 12:11 NASV The Greek word translated ‘overcome’, ‘enikēsan’, speaks of such an overwhelming defeat, that according to the Pocket Lexicon to the Greek New Testament, it means …

Do Not Budge From Your Post

By Rick Renner Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season… — 2 Timothy 4:2 In the book of Second Timothy, the apostle Paul gave a long, detailed description of the things that would become more and more prevalent in the last of the last days. Later in that same letter, Paul gave this charge to the younger minister: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season…” (2 Timothy 4:2). The word “instant” is from the Greek word ephistemi, and it means to stand at your post. The word ephistemi is a military term. That’s important because standing at your post entails engaging in spiritual warfare. I won’t delve into a deep study of the subject of spiritual warfare here, but I will say that declaring the Word of God in faith is the highest level of spiritual warfare there is. That’s why it’s especially important for a preacher, or any believer who has God’s Word planted deeply in his heart, to stand and to keep on standing at his post …

The Dark Side: Can we talk about demons?

This is something we should all do: decide. Do you believe that spiritual things exist? … or not? If we believe in God, who is a spirit, we should accept that other spirits also exist. The Bible is full of stories about God, and other spirit beings. That includes angels who work for God, and angels who are the enemies of God; demons. I want to add a disclaimer; this is not about mental illness or dramatic Hollywood movies. I have met people with mental health problems, that can be managed. That is an interesting topic, but it’s not the topic here. Also, we probably all know the movie where the little girl spits at a priest exorcist, and spins her head around. That is entertainment. The actual influence of demons, including possession, was a scary topic before the movie came out. A few days ago, I learned something that is real, and scary, and close to me. We had a neighbor, a few years ago. She seemed like a nice person, and a good …

Study: Just 30-seconds of Mozart could reduce epileptic seizures

According to researchers from Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine, just 30 seconds of Mozart has the ability to calm the parts of our mind linked to seizure and epileptic attacks. Study Finds reports that the researchers had 16 people with drug resistant epileptic seizures listen to several clips of music, including Mozart’s Sonata for Two Pianos, written in 1781. As they were listening, the researchers monitored their brain activity using electroencephalograms. They found that as the people listened to Mozart, there was an average 66.5% reduction in the electrical spikes in the brain that cause epilepsy. This song, along with “40-Hz auditory gamma-band tones,” were the only musical clips that recorded a reduction. Based on their observations, the researchers concluded that listening to Mozart daily could reduce the number of epileptic seizures by as much as 66%. This was not the first study to notice that this particular song positively impacted brain activity. An earlier study found that the song increased a person’s “spatial reasoning ability.” READ: Just 30 seconds of Mozart calms brain regions …

Seven soldiers spontaneously baptized at Fort Irwin. Is this part of a bigger ‘Kingdom of God’ strategy?

According to a recent Facebook post, seven soldiers stationed at Fort Irwin, a US military base located in California, were recently baptized by Chaplains in a make shift baptismal tanks after they spontaneously requested water baptism. Faithit reports that the news was shared on Facebook by 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team and 2nd Infantry Division that posted: “With no chapel or equipment to facilitate, our chaplains came together and created a makeshift tub at the National Training Center/Fort Irwin and got the job done. A fine example of Lancers being experts at their chosen field craft!” Since it was first reported on Aug 30, 2021, the post has received over 77,000 shares, 3,000 comments and 21,000 likes. Fort Irwin is a major training base for the US military and is located in the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County. Because of its massive size, 1,000 square miles, it provides training in multiple facets including manoeuvres, air combat, air support tactics and urban warfare. Each month, between 4,000 to 5,000 soldiers rotate through the base’s National …

Converse releases sneaker with Satanic symbol

Converse, a clothing and shoe manufacturer, recently released a limited edition sneaker that had the company’s Chuck Taylor star logo replaced by a pentagram, an occultic/satanic symbol. The shoe was designed by Rick Owens, a designer who reportedly has been using the pentagram as part of his creative designs for years. According to Charisma News, Converse provided a statement by Owens on its Instagram account about this pentagram design. Owen said: “And a pentagram, in this day and age, with all of its associations … I like the fact that it refers to an alternative system. And that suggests openness and empathy. It suggests the pursuit of pleasure, this pursuit of sensation. But one of the main things that I think it suggests is empathy and a consideration of systems of living that might not be standard. So that leads us to be more accepting and tolerant of other systems, which I think is a good thing.” READ: Converse Unveils Designer Shoes with Satanic Symbol Replacing Brand’s Star Logo As Charisma News noted, this seems …

Is there a demonic side to COVID?

Bob Burckle serves as the president of the Eastern European Mission, whose primary goal is to print and distribute Bibles throughout Eastern Europe. Burckle has served as the organization’s president for 20 years. In an op-ed for the Western Journal, Burckle shared his miraculous recovery from COVID. The first hint that he was sick started with a complete loss in energy. He found it difficult to even stand up. After he went to the hospital, the nurse was shocked that he walked in, because the oxygen level in his blood was only 73%. His COVID test came back positive and along with that, doctors also diagnosed him with bacterial and viral pneumonia. He was immediately admitted to hospital and put on oxygen, a step below intubation. He was extremely sick, and Burckle felt that death was a very real possibility. But he sensed something else, Burckle also believed he was under spiritual attack from satanic sources and immediately put out a call to supporters for prayer as he lay in his hospital bed. So, can …

My Covid Experience

My experience with covid has been five weeks of struggling, and now I get to be a long hauler. I had most of the symptoms including respiratory problems, fatigue, coughing, aches and pains, and a general emotional and spiritual upheaval. I also developed two pneumonias, one bacterial and one viral. So, I was really ill with three severe respiratory illnesses at the same time Even now, as I start back into my daily activities, I am struggling with chest pain, hurting lungs, tiredness, loss of breath, and small bits of brain fog. Although it has been years since the last time I was really unwell, I experienced a difference with COVID. It wasn’t that it was fast. I mean really fast! Literally one day I was fine and within two days I was struggling to breathe. It wasn’t the severity or the wide range of symptoms that came with the virus that hit me the hardest. What really struck me as the most significant issue of this illness was the darkness that accompanied it. It …

Is Communist China our ‘Canary in a coal mine’?

The Book of Daniel provides an interesting perspective on the spiritual battle that took place between two godly angels and a demonic angel, known as the Prince of Persia, for control of this ancient kingdom (Daniel 10:13-14). As a result of this successful spiritual conflict, one of the Godly angels took a position beside the King of Persia: “And as for me, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I stood up to confirm and strengthen him. (Daniel 11:1 ESV) Because of this, a godly angel was able to protect and influence the Persian Kings for the next several decades, leading to the passing of an edict allowing people taken into captivity by the Babylonians, including the Jews, to return to their homelands. But this story also provides another important detail. If the godly angel held a position of influence over the Persian government, this meant that prior to this the demonic Prince of Persia (called a territorial spirit) was in a position to influence Persian leaders. This is why the Apostle Paul calls …

Have archaeologists discovered the dance floor on which John the Baptist was condemned to death?

According to a report on Live Science, archaeologists claimed to have found the very dance floor on which John the Baptist was condemned to death. In the Gospels, we are told the story behind John the Baptist’s execution at the hands of Herod of Antipas. The prophet had been actively condemning the marriage of Herod Antipas to a woman named Herodias. She was the wife of Herod’s half-brother Philip, who Herod actually stole while visiting Philip. Though the Romans were known for their notoriously low moral standards, even they were disgusted by Herod’s actions. Because of John’s constant condemnation of the marriage, Herod finally had John arrested. “But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him about Herodias, his brother’s wife, and about all the evil things Herod had done, added this to everything else—he locked John up in prison,” (Luke 3:19-20). It was apparent by this action, that the Baptist’s words were having an impact on people’s opinion of this marriage, and Herod wanted John stopped. But Herod was hesitant about having John executed, because …

Using strip clubs to be as wise as serpents?

When Jesus was sending out His disciples to preach the Gospel, the Lord gave them some very strange advice, He said: 16 “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. (Matthew 10:16 ESV) Many struggle to interpret what Jesus meant by this. Biblically, the serpent was portrayed as crafty and deceptive when it tempted Adam and Eve to fall into sin. Meanwhile, the dove was considered clean, a picture of innocence and the Holy Spirit. So how do these two conflicting metaphors work together? I think the glue that brings them together is that the disciples were being sent out as sheep among wolves. The church has enemies. We need to understand how this enemy works and be as crafty when it comes to dealing with them. But this craftiness needs to be balanced with the innocence of doves meaning we can’t use this craftiness to take personal advantage of others. A couple recent stories may portray this balance at work. As …

My new favourite spiritual warfare song

We have weapons to pull down spiritual strongholds: 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJ) And in the days of King Jehoshaphat: 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the Lord,For His mercy endures forever.” 22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. (2 Chronicles 20:21-23 NKJ)

Fighting for religious freedom: Are Christians verging on becoming second class citizens?

Samuel Alito, 70, was appointed to the US Supreme Court in 2007 under US President George Bush. He is considered an originalist when it comes to the US Constitution, meaning he interprets it as it was intended by the original writers, not by what a person wants it to mean. On Thursday, he was delivering a speech online for the Federalist Society and warned that Christians are verging on becoming second class citizens: “[There are] emerging trends in the assessment of individual rights. This is especially evident with respect to religious liberty. It pains me to say this, but in certain quarters , religious liberty is fast becoming a disfavored right.” He added that the COVID-1984 is simply exposing this underlying sentiment and is being used to restrict religious freedom. As an example, Alito referred specifically to what happened in Nevada where Alito said the government “blatantly discriminated against houses of worship.” The state government placed heavy COVID restrictions on Houses of Worship while not doing the same for Casinos that in practice function very …

He walked up a wall: A case of demonic possession

It’s Halloween. So, The Blaze decided to do a story on a strange case of demon possession reported by former Indy Star journalist Marisa Kwiatkowski in an article written in 2014 entitled “The Exorcisms of Latoya Ammons.” But what made this case so unusual is that many of the demonic manifestations, that included walking up a wall, were witnessed by professionals including police officers, medical professionals and welfare officials. These accounts were even included in official government reports. Some excerpts from The Blaze story: An official report details what some medical professionals claimed to have witnessed. The document reads, in part: “Medical staff reported that while the children were at their primary doctor’s office the medical staff reported they observed [one of the children] be lifted and thrown into the wall with nobody touching him.” […] This brings us to that pivotal point in the story: the claim that the boy walked up a wall. Washington’s official DCS report — an account reportedly backed by Willie Lee Walker, a registered nurse who was in the …

Witches trying to curse Donald Trump?

Reports are coming out that witches are again trying to influence the upcoming American federal election by cursing President Donald Trump. Apparently, they are pretty excited about a rare astronomical event, the appearance of two full moons in the same month. There was full moon at the beginning of October and another will take place on the last day of the month.

Oct. 25, 2020: A day of spiritual warfare for America?

Worship leader Sean Feucht has been holding outdoor worship service across America over the past several months. And the final service on his Let Us Worship tour will take place on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020 at the National Mall in Washington, DC. The prayer service will actually start on Saturday, culminating with a worship service the next day. Feucht expressed his amazement that this service will be occurring the day before the Senate is scheduled to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Much of the resistance to Barrett’s nomination has centered around her faith. Barrett is a Charismatic Catholic. The National Park Service (NPS) has given Sean Feucht permission to hold the service at the mall that could see 15,000 people gathering to worship and pray for America. According to reports over 7,000 people have already registered to attend the service. And certainly 15,000 is not out of the question, because an estimated 12,000 people attended Feucht’s worship service held in front California’s state capitol in Sacramento in September. As well, an …

The secret things are God’s responsibility, the revealed things are ours

During the Senate hearings on the confirmation Judge Amy Coney Barrett, to the Supreme Court, I was struck by the testimony given by Laura Wolk on behalf of Barrett. Because of her blindness, Wolk has continually faced challenges at Notre Dame Law School and as she moved into a law career because of her need for assistive technology that wasn’t always available. In a moving testimony, Wolk explained how she was able to eventually become the first blind clerk at the Supreme Court because of Barrett’s help. While attending Notre Dame, Wolk was also being mentored by Barrett but was running into problems with getting the technological assistance she needed as a blind person. The Daily Wire provided part of Wolk’s testimony before the Senate hearing: “I had been Judge Barrett’s student only for a few weeks, but her graciousness and warmth gave me hope that she could provide me with that assistance. Even so, I maintained relatively low expectations. Based on my past experience, I assumed that Judge Barrett would simply direct me to …

Lessons from the Ring

Have you ever been knocked out in a fight? I have. I didn’t like it much.  After all that bobbing and weaving and ducking and hitting; bam! Right in the nose. I saw stars and down I went. I didn’t stay down. Hats off to me, I jumped up and did the drunk walk for a bit before finding a place to fall down again. I lost that one. It is the only time I was knocked out by another human. I am glad I don’t box anymore. My Dad was an avid boxing fan and at one time we watched as many bouts as we could and knew many of the boxers by name and style. It is a violent sport. And there’s a lot to do if you want to succeed. Stay on the balls of your feet, keep them moving constantly, buildup your speed, your strength, your stamina, and control your emotions. My biggest downfall was losing my temper. You could hit me anywhere and it didn’t matter, it didn’t really even …

Power of worship: Boy raised from the dead after drowning

An incredible story out of North Carolina arguably displays the power of worship. As they do every year, in 2019 the Floyd family headed to Holden Beach with family and friends to celebrate the fourth of July. But their annual visit took a dramatic change when they noticed the body of their 12-year-old son, Levi, floating motionless in the water. When their son’s lifeless body was dragged out of the water, he had no pulse. Leah, who is a member of the family and a nurse, immediately began performing CPR. She was quickly joined by two other nurses at the beach, and they rotated in giving CPR and performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. But because nothing was happening, Leah believed there was no hope. Levi was dead. As the rest of the family stood by praying, things dramatically changed when Levi’s sister Lily started singing a worship song, “The King is alive.” In the interview with The 700 Club, Levi’s mother, Lindsey, described what happened next as the whole family joined in singing the song: “It was …

The church is facing battles on every side

2020 has been a very unusual year for the church as we face attacks on every side. We have states such as California determined to stop churches from reopening. The state is imposing massive fines if churches do and court cases are being launched over the constitutional right of believers to practise their faith. And recently a different battle has emerged in the state of Washington. With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Cedar Park Assembly of God in Kirkland, Washington is taking the state of Washington to court because of a law the state assembly passed in 2018 requiring churches to provide abortion coverage if it also provided maternity benefits to its workers. According to ADF, what is particularly disturbing is that failure to comply could not only result in fines but as well imprisonment. ADF noted that the law as it stands does not provide a religious exemption. As a result of the law’s passing, insurance companies began to insert abortion coverage in the Cedar Park’s plan. In its brief to the …

Worship warfare?

As America seems to be descending into darkness and chaos through nightly riots, I wonder if God is raising up a standard against this onslaught. Worship leader Sean Feucht has taken to the streets of many cities hit by recent riots to hold outdoor worship services proclaiming God’s goodness and hope. This past weekend, Sean ended up in America’s northeast and held services in New Jersey, New York City and Boston. According to several reports there was a genuine move of God at all three locations with large crowds showing up even despite the rain. In New York City several people were saved and according to Dr Charles Karuka, who pastors NYC’s International Outreach Church, 29 people were water baptized in a fountain located in Washington Square Park. CBN writes: “This place is filled with people about to get baptized in the fountains of Washington Square Park,” Feucht said. “Some of them just got saved…some are rededicating.” In a video shared on Facebook, Dr. Karuku described the occasion as a “move of God” after 29 …

Is there a spiritual battle raging over Seattle and America?

Last night (Monday, Aug. 10, 2020), worship leader Sean Feucht went to Seattle’s former CHAZ/CHOP zone, an area taken over by left-wing extremists a few weeks back, to hold a worship service. Feucht has been holding outdoor services across America during the lockdown. While hundreds of Seattle believers turned up for the service, according to Feucht they were met by “violent protestors” some who were carrying signs hailing Satan. Sean Feucht reported on Instagram: Violent protestors showed up flashing knives! We had an entire satanic cult march through the worshippers the entire time yelling “Hail Satan!” We had white Antifa yelling & threatening black local pastors! They yelled obscenities and cursed at my wife and kids all night long! Yes, those brave left-wing extremists tried to scare and intimidate women and children. Though, Feucht had wisely brought along bodyguards, the violent agitators were able to damage some musical equipment, and as well unplug generators used for the service. But Feucht noted that the believers in attendance were not intimidated by the protesters. And during the …

Communist China forcing pastors to praise Xi Jinping in sermons, but there is good news

It is unfortunately a good news, bad news scenario. Bitter Winter, an online magazine reporting on religious freedom in Communist China, recently reported that pastors of churches, closed due to COVID, are being told that in order to reopen, they must both praise China’s current Communist tyrant, Xi Jinping, and criticize America in their sermons. These involve churches that are part of the Communist party approved Three-self churches. Essentially, the church pastors must preach Communist Party propaganda instead of sermons from the Bible. Bitter Winter reports that in Henan, 11 churches were not allowed to reopen, because Communist censors did not pre-approve the sermons prepared by their pastors. When pastors did comply, church members were very critical of sermons that lacked any spiritual message. One church member from Henan told Bitter Winter: The government said that churches must preach about national affairs if they want to reopen. With Xi Jinping’s speeches as the main content, it’s better for churches not to reopen.” “Those preachers who agree to preach politics just want their churches to be …
