Volcanic eruption hits Las Palma

Las Palma, that is part of the Canary Islands, was hit by both a 3.8 earthquake and another volcanic eruption overnight.

Australia: Church fined $5,000 for not displaying QR code on door

The Australian government of New South Wales (NSW) requires most businesses to display a bar code on the outside of the premises, provided by the government. This even includes churches, and all staff and congregation members must scan the barcode before entering the church, so the government can keep track of who has entered the building.

Three volcanos erupt off the coast of Alaska

I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth,Blood, fire, and columns of smoke.31 The sun will be turned into darkness,And the moon into blood,Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. (Joel 2:30-31 NASV) Fox News is reporting that three volcanos are erupting on a remote chain of islands located in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska. According to the report, the three volcanos on the Alaskan Peninsula have been erupting simultaneously for about two weeks. And though the eruptions appear to be growing stronger, those monitoring the situation are not concerned at this point. The most worrisome of the volcanos is the Pavlof Volcano because it is only 35 miles away from the small community of Cold Bay. Though it seems the least active of the three, people are reporting that they can see its lava flows. The other two volcanos, Great Sitkin Volcano and Semisopochnoi Volcano, are hundreds of miles away from people, but Semisopochnoi is reportedly spewing ash 10,000 feet into the air. In the verse …

It’s the End of the World!

My wife says the world is going to end soon. She expects the second coming of Christ in the next few years, certainly around the mid-century mark at the latest. And she’s not alone. One friend, who was over yesterday, thinks it is a matter of a few years or perhaps only months. A couple who ministers in our area feel it is imminent. They are warning people to prepare themselves for the return of Jesus. As for myself, I don’t really know. There are certain ways to view the prophecies of Daniel, a book in the Old Testament, that would indicate their view is pretty accurate. No matter when he comes, there are three things we need to know about the end of the world. THE FIRST THING is, no one really knows the hour or the day of his second coming. The Bible says we can know the season, though, and that is what my wife and our friends are talking about. So, if you see a sign that says Jesus is coming …

Nostradamus: Did he know something about us?

Do you want to know the future? Are you concerned about the way things are going? Who isn’t? You may have noticed Internet talk about a man named Nostradamus. His full name was Michele de Nostredame, and he lived in France from 1503 to 1566. In his lifetime, he published books that seemed to predict the future. Our problem with those books, in modern times, is that his writing was poetic and cryptic, never easy to understand. Today, the writings of Nostradamus are very popular, and many people believe that he predicted the future; and they believe we are now living in those future times. Nostradamus worked as an apothecary or pharmacist, before he became famous for predicting the future. His sideline business has been described as ‘occult fortune teller’ and that is probably why Christians don’t talk about him, very much. His family was Jewish, but they converted to the Roman Catholic religion, apparently before he was born. That might be important because many Jewish people believe in the tradition of “Kabbalah” a type …

Poll: Secular Americans, less likely to be vaccinated for COVID, than Christians

While some in the mainstream media are focussing on Evangelical Christians as one of the largest groups resisting the COVID vaccine, a study of the results of a May poll by Eastern Illinois University Assistant Political professor, Ryan Burge, has come to a different conclusion. His analysis of the data from a survey conducted by Data for Progress, revealed that it was the “young and secular” who were actually leading the unvaccinated charge. Burge wrote: “I don’t find a lot of evidence that evangelicals are the ones lagging behind. In fact, I find that those without any religious affiliation were the least likely to have received at least one dose of any COVID-19 vaccine.” Burge added that the results of the poll showed that in early May 2021, 62% of Evangelical Americans had received at least one vaccine shot. This compared to 72% of “non-evangelical Protestants” and 47% of the nones, those with no religious affiliation. After accounting for multiple factors, such as race, education, age, income, and gender that affects a person’s willingness and …

Archaeologists find evidence of Biblical earthquake in Jerusalem

In Amos 1:1, the prophet did an interesting thing. He used an earthquake that hit Judah and Israel about 2,800 years ago, during the reign of Judah’s King Uzziah, as a sign post dating his prophetic calling: 1 The words of Amos, who was among the sheepherders from Tekoa, which he saw in visions concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. Uzziah reigned as King of Judah between 790 and 739 BC. It is believed the earthquake took place around 750 BC. This was nearly 200 years before the destruction of the Temple in 586 BC, when Babylon invaded Jerusalem and hauled off the nation into captivity. But Amos was not the only prophet to mention the earthquake, centuries later the prophet Zechariah (520 to 470 BC) was still talking about the earthquake that occurred in King Uzziah’s day (Zechariah 14:5). This suggests that there was such devastation, it was still in public memory as it …

Does a court case in Michigan help us understand the Mark of the Beast?

An interesting court case in Michigan slightly pries open a door for a brief discussion on the Mark of Beast, mentioned in the Book of Revelation, that I will take advantage of in this article. In his vision of the end times, the Apostle John said that people would be required to take the Mark of the Beast and if they didn’t, they would be prevented from buying or selling (Revelation 13:17). Though no actual mark is involved, a court case taking place in Michigan has a similar ring to it. According to Charisma News, Country Mill Farms has been participating in an annual farmers’ market in East Lansing for several years. In 2016, the farm, owned by Steve and Bridget Tennes, a Christian family, were banned from setting up a booth at the market because after checking out the farm’s Facebook page, an East Lansing official discovered the family believed in the Biblical definition of marriage. In 2017, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom, the Tennes were able to overturn the ban with the judge …

Speaking dangerously: ‘I am for Christ’

The phrase ‘I am for Christ’ is quickly becoming one of the more dangerous phrases a person can utter, no mater where you live. According to an article on Morning Star News, uttering that phrase nearly cost Abudlawali Kijwalo, 39, his life. Kijwalo lives in Uganda and was born into a Muslim family that was noted for is dedication to Islam by making annual pilgrimages to Mecca. But Kijwalo had decided to convert to Christianity and was starting to listen to Gospel music. This angered the family and particularly his brother, Murishid, who repeatedly told Kijwalo to telling people he now believed in Jesus. It took a violent turn, when Kijwalo and his brother were looking after the family’s cattle that were grazing in a nearby pasture. Murishid approached his brother and asked, “Are you still a Muslim, or you are now a Christian.” Kijwalo simply replied: “I am for Christ.” As soon as he uttered those words, his brother pulled out a machete from beneath his robe and forcibly struck Kijwalo in the head, …

Does ‘The Great Reset’ and new world order include the ‘Mark of the Beast’?

You may have heard about ‘The Great Reset’, a plan originated by the World Economic Forum (WEF), a group of Global economic and political elitists, who want to use the COVID pandemic to remake the world along a socialist, totalitarian theme. This would result in a small group of elitists essentially controlling the world. As part of it, they even envision a world where people would no longer be allowed to own property. But in the midst of this discussion on ‘The Great Reset’, LifeSiteNews uncovered a video of an interview with Klaus Schwab, who founded the WEF, and currently heads its Great Reset program. In a 2016 interview with the Swiss based media outlet, RTS, Schwab stated that he believed computer chips would be installed in people’s brains within the next ten years. According to Schwab, it would start gradually, a frog in a boiling pot scenario, where the chips would be put on our clothes and eventually be installed in our brains or under our skin that would allow people to directly connect …

No Time for Cowardice

By Dr. Michael L. Brown According to the book of Revelation, “the cowardly,” along with a host of other sinners, like murderers and the sexually immoral, will one day be cast into the lake of fire (see Revelation 21:8). But what is so bad about being cowardly? Why is it such a serious sin? The Greek word used for “cowardly” also means “fearful,” and it is found two other times in the New Testament.  As explained by the Greek scholar Celsas Spicq, “Jesus reproaches the apostles for this psychological fear when they are terrified by the storm (Matt 8:26; Mark 4:40), because it involves a moral deficiency: they no longer have faith, or they have but little faith in the presence of the Savior, who has to reassure them.” In contrast, “when one relies on God, there is nothing to fear.” (From his Theological Lexicon of the New Testament.) So, there is something morally deficient in being fearful when Jesus Himself is with you. And in the situation described in the Gospels, when the disciples …

Is Communist China’s new digital currency a sign of the times?

According to a former executive director with the World Bank, Erik Bethel, Communist China is on the verge of creating a digital version of its currency (official called renminbi but popularly referred to as the yuan) that could result in the regime going cashless in the near future. It will be the world’s first government-backed digital currency. In an interview with CBN, Bethel states the regime’s digital currency, similar to the Bitcoin, will be controlled by the country’s national bank, the People’s Bank of China. As part of its testing phase, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) will soon release $6 million dollars to its citizens that can use one of two apps approved by the CCP to make purchases. It is believed that the communist regime is preparing for a full launch of its digital coin in time for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Once this process starts, the CCP will have full access to people’s spending 24/7. Many believe the move is just another step in the Communist regime’s attempt to regulate and moderate the …

Now Is the Time to Preach Endurance Not Escape

By Dr. Michael L. Brown Living in America, it is easy to develop a theology of escape, one that says, “When times really get hard, God will remove us from the scene. When real tribulation comes, we will be long gone.” But is that the attitude we should be encouraging? Is not the gospel made for hard times? I’m aware, of course, that there are divergent views of the end times among Christians, including the debate over a pre-tribulation or post-tribulation rapture (or a variation of those themes; for my own views, see here.) Fine Christians can disagree on this, and my goal here it not to debate eschatology. We can agree to disagree and work together just the same. Instead, my goal here is to focus on our attitude. What kind of mindset should we have in a difficult time like this? What should our mentality be? In the last decade, Christians in Syria suffered bombing, hunger, torture, exile, and death. They did not escape the hard times. To this moment, Christians in Nigeria …

Chinese pastor arrested for collecting church offerings?

ChinaAid recently reported on the arrest of Elder Zhang Chunlei by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in May 2021. Elder Zhang pastors the Guiyang Ren Ai Reformed Church. The CCP has been cracking down on Christians throughout the regime, but what was unusual about Chunlei’s arrest is that he has been charged with “suspected fraud” for collecting offerings during church services, a tradition used by churches around the world.

‘The Red dragon ain’t no evil’: I am not sure the Apostle John agrees

According to Hong Kong’s Apple Daily, in the lead up to the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on July 1, 2021, it is flooding the few churches allowed to be open with Communist propaganda and ordering them to celebrate the CCP during services. The CCP has set up two organizations that churches must join in order to be approved. This includes Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM) for protestants and the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association for Roman Catholic churches. These churches are heavily regulated and monitored by the CCP that has set up video cameras in the churches to identify who is attending and what is being spoken during the services. According to the Apple Daily (AD) several Catholic churches are actually holding masses singing the praises of communism. AD added that in May, Liu Yuanlong, the vice president of the Catholic association, released a public statement endorsing the CCP: “God has chosen the Chinese Communist Party… We have to firmly support the Chinese Communist Party with Xi Jinping at its core. We listen to …

BLM co-founder called for ‘end of Israel’

Patrisse Cullors, the self-proclaimed trained Marxist, co-founder of Black Lives Matter and multi-million dollar home-owner, can now add another to her list of left wing accomplishments. According to the Daily Mail, while speaking on a panel sponsored by Harvard University’s Human Rights Program in 2015, Cullors called for an end to Israel’s existence as a nation.

Is COVID Vaccine the Mark of the Beast?

I have been surprised by something, recently. People who never seemed religious are now talking about Bible prophecy, and quoting Bible verses. I found someone watching an Internet video about the Bible, and what it says about our future. They seemed interested in what they were learning. One name keeps getting mentioned “The Mark of the Beast.” You might have noticed that this mark is somehow connected to COVID vaccinations, for some people. So, what is that ‘Mark’? The last book of the Christian Bible is called the “Revelation” and it refers to the Apocalypse. That word means “unveiling” and the picture is of a cloth cover being pulled away to show what is hidden. The future is unveiled. In the book of Revelation, a man named John had visions while he was a prisoner on a penal colony island called Patmos. He was a persecuted Christian, as an old man, and he wrote his visions down for us, including something about that ‘Mark of the Beast.’ John started with one vision where he heard …

Congo volcano erupts

Another volcano erupted this year, this time in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mount Nyiragongo erupted around 7 pm on May 23, 2021 turning the sky a bright red. People in the nearby city of Goma, population 670,000, reported seeing giant flames shooting into the night sky and the smell of sulphur. Thousands are fleeing the city. The last time the 3,000-meter volcano erupted was in 2002 and resulted in the deaths of 100. An eruption in 1977 killed over 600 people. The volcano is located in the Virunga National Park which borders Rwanda. The park is home to mountain gorillas, an endangered species made famous by Dian Fossey. There have been several volcanic eruptions so far this year including two in Iceland, three in Guatemala and as well eruptions in Alaska, Indonesia, Italy, and the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. The prophet Joel warned that one of the sign posts of the end times would be in an intense time of volcanic activity as he referred to columns (in the plural) of smoke leading …

Israel and Gaza: Is this Armageddon?

Do you remember life two years ago? It’s blurry in my memory. If someone said COVID or words like Astra Zeneca, we might have guessed they were speaking another language. Then, a pandemic came on us, and life has not been the same. We are told that change will come on us: “The day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night. When they say, “Peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 2 and 3) That just happened. Everything seemed normal; I remember making decisions and plans for the next few years. I went to a work site one day, and I remember sheets of plastic hung from the ceilings to keep customers, people off the street, away from the workers at the counters. I had a bad feeling about that, and then someone noticed me. The workers looked at me like I was a strange alien creature, and they explained that I …

Does ‘Satan 2’ = ‘Wormwood’?

The Daily Mail is reporting that Russia is in the final testing phase of its latest super nuke that the government describes as invincible. The intercontinental ballistic missile named RS-28 Sarmat, nicknamed Satan 2, weighs 208 tons and is scheduled to be part of Russia’s nuclear arsenal in 2022. The government is planning three test launches of the ICBM this year and states it can travel 11,200 miles and is capable of reaching the continental US over the North Pole and is also capable of launching over the South Pole, in a surprise attack from an unexpected direction. Because of its launch speed and unpredictable flight, Russia states that RS-28 Sarmat will be difficult to shoot down and its payload of 10 large thermonuclear warheads is capable of devastating an area as large as the state of Texas or the combined area of England and Wales. Russia is not the only country with nuclear weapons. The US, Britain, China, Israel, France, Pakistan, India, and North Korea also have nuclear weapons and of course Iran desperately …

Asteroid game simulation ends badly

It was similar to a war game where generals use computer simulations to determine the eventual winner in a make believe war, but it involved an asteroid. A group of scientists from space agencies across Europe and in the US were given the scenario that a massive asteroid (named 2021PDC) was 35 million miles away and hurtling through space and destined to hit earth in six months.

The War in the Woods: Whose god will win, Racism or the Environment?

In British Columbia, the western province in Canada, environmental protesters are blocking loggers who want to cut down trees. That is not surprising. The activists would probably tell us about climate change, if we could talk to them. Also, in that part of the world, “Racism” is often presented as discrimination against native people. The natives are the “people of color” in that region, and they are concerned about their place in society. They also own the trees that the loggers want to cut down. The loggers are working for them. The native community spoke up to say that they have “always harvested and managed our forestry resources” … [and] “We do not welcome or support unsolicited involvement or interference by others in our territory, including third-party activism.” In modern activist thinking, people who oppose the natives could be labelled as racists. Without choosing sides, this is a clash of titans: A common word in the news these days is “racism.” Anti-racist protesters can be violent in the streets, and careers can be ruined by …

Chinese Communist Party launches snitch app for wrong think

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) just released an app allowing people to report those who are not thinking according to communist lines. The app produced by Cyberspace Administration of China is initially focussing on people who dare to insult China’s national heroes. According to The Independent, it was released in the lead up to CCP’s 100th anniversary to deal with people “denying the excellence of advanced socialist culture.” The CCP explained the app’s purpose writing: For a while now, some people with ulterior motives have spread historically nihilistic false statements online, maliciously distorting, slandering, and denying party, national, and military history in an attempt to confuse people’s thinking. We hope that most internet users will play an active role in supervising society and enthusiastically report harmful information.” This would include reporting anyone who refers to Mao Zedong, the founder of Chinese communism, as one of the world’s biggest mass murderers. It is estimated that Mao’s communist policies, directly or indirectly, resulted in the deaths of 45 million Chinese people (many now believe the number is …
