Greg Laurie suggests Iran’s recent attack on Israel was a fulfillment of Bible prophecy

There is no doubt that things are heating up in the Middle East, just as the Bible predicted it would at the end of days before Christ’s return.

While I look at Iran’s recent attack on Israel with over 300 ballistic and cruise missiles and drones on April 13, 2024, as more of a sign of things yet to come, others believe it’s the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.

While I may not necessarily agree with them, they may have a point.

In a recent article on Harvest.org, Greg Laurie pointed out that with the formation of the nation of Israel on May 14, 1948, in a single day (Isaiah 66:7-9), “the prophetic time clock began to tick.”

“I do believe the attack of Iran on Israel was a fulfillment of Bible prophecy,” Laurie writes. “A sign of the end times, according to Scripture, is the Jewish people will be regathered together in their homeland… That was not just a sign, that was a super sign.”

“The Bible had more to say. Not only will the Jews be regathered together in their homeland, but they will be increasingly isolated. That’s happening,” he added.

“The Bible also predicted the rise of antisemitism in the end times,”
Laurie noted. “That is happening.

“The Bible also predicts a large nation to the north of Israel, identified in Ezekiel as Magog, will attack her. That has not yet happened,” Laurie continued. “Many scholars believe that Magog is a reference to modern-day Russia. I concur with that view, but no one can say with absolute certainty.”

“But this we can say with certainty: One of the allies of Russia will be Persia. Persia was the (biblical) name of Iran. They changed their name in 1935. Therefore, Persia, or Iran, attacking Israel is predicted in the Bible. And guess what? That just happened,” Laurie said.

As I mentioned, while I may not agree with Pastor Laurie, he may have a point.

The reason for my hesitancy is due to a verse in Daniel, which suggests that one of the goals of the spirit of the antichrist or Satan is to change the end times timetable.

He shall speak words against the Most High,
and shall wear out the saints of the Most High,
    and shall think to change the times and the law;
and they shall be given into his hand
for a time, times, and half a time.
(Daniel 7:25 ESV)

God has a timetable for when the events associated with the end times will occur, which I believe Satan is constantly trying to circumvent. He wants to spark certain prophetic events before God intends them to happen.

I believe Adolf Hitler was Satan’s attempt to prematurely set up the anti-Christ. That end-times connection is seen in Hitler’s hideous slaughter of six million Jews.

However, Satan failed and, curiously, it was three years after the end of World War II, and basically because of that failed attempt, that the nation of Israel was created.
