Canada: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau goes Orwellian and wants to punish wrong-thinking

Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, is preparing to go completely Orwellian, the New York Post writes. Under legislation before the House of Commons, Justin Trudeau wants to be able to sentence people for thinking wrong thoughts. This is from a man who holds absolute power in that country while only having the support of slightly over 30% of the people. In other words, in the last federal election, 70% of Canadians stated by their vote that they did not want Trudeau to be their Prime Minister. However, with the political support of the New Democratic Party, Trudeau has the power to rule Canada with an iron fist. The New York Post Editorial Board provides more details: The country that brought you debanking protesters and government-assisted suicide for the poor now wants to criminalize speech to lock up people for life and to put wrongthinkers under house arrest if the state sees a chance they will commit a crime.  Doesn’t get more Orwellian than that.  The chillingly titled Online Harms Act was introduced in February by Justice Minister Arif Virani. Virani …

Phoenician Electrum earring discovered in Old Jerusalem

Why a minuscule Phoenician gold pendant discovered in Old Jerusalem is hitting above its weight?

The discovery of a minuscule golden pendant during archaeological work in Old Jerusalem’s Ophel, the area surrounding Temple Mount, has finally caught the attention of archaeologists, the Armstrong Institute of Biblical Archaeology reports. The pendant-like item made of the naturally occurring electrum (a gold and silver alloy) is now hitting above its weight. First discovered in 2012, the 4x4x2 millimeter basket-shaped item could have served as either a pendant or perhaps even an earring. But for the next 11 years, it was basically ignored. Then in 2023 archaeologists decided to take a closer look at the artifact and discovered several important facts about it. First, they determined that it was made of a gold-silver alloy. Secondly, after comparing it with other items discovered in the Middle East, they determined that it was made in Phoenicia, as it clearly resembled other known Phoenician artifacts. Thirdly, it was determined with certainty that it was made in the 10th Century BCE, making it 3,000 years old. It not only became the oldest artifact made of gold ever discovered …

Painting of 3rd century water baptism from the Catacombs of San Callisto, Italy

Tennessee church sets a record for the number of single-day water baptisms

It was a record for the most water baptisms recorded in a single day at the First Baptist Church based in Hendersonville, Tennessee, the Christian Post reports. The church, which has an average Sunday attendance of 3,900 spread over four services, saw 93 people get water baptized: According to the Church’s senior pastor, Bruce Raley, perhaps the most significant thing about what happened this past Sunday was that the baptisms were spontaneous. People were not attending church expecting to be water baptized. However, because they were preaching on the importance of water baptism that morning, the church was prepared in case the Holy Spirit moved. A satellite city of Nashville, Hendersonville has a population of 62,000.

Mother’s refusal to let doctors remove her daughter from life support, rewarded as she awakens from a 5-year coma

Within three days after Jennifer Flewellen had lost consciousness after dropping her children off at school and smashing her car into a pole in 2017, doctors were recommending she be removed from life support, the Western Journal reports. However, her mother, Peggy Means, refused to accept their prognosis. “I said, ‘No, not as of today. We’re not going to do that.’ And then each day, they kind of encouraged me more, and I’d say, ‘No, it’s in God’s hands,’” Means said in an interview with ABC News. Over the next five years, she continued to lobby on behalf of her daughter and stated that there were instances when she butted heads with the hospital staff as she fought for her daughter’s care and right to live. But her persistence and faith paid off in August 2022 when Jennifer shocked everyone and laughed at her mother’s joke. This was the beginning of her gradual return to consciousness. Today, Jennifer is living with her mom and on the road to recovery as she is going through a …

Smoking marijuana daily increases the risk of heart attack by 25% and stroke by 42%, study finds

A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association has concluded there are serious health issues associated with the daily smoking of marijuana, Breitbart reports. The study funded by the National Institutes of Health found that those who smoked Marijuana daily “were 25% more likely to have a heart attack than those who didn’t use the drug at all. The daily habit also increased their chances of having a stroke by 42%.” The researchers noted that smoking Cannabis had the same health impact as smoking cigarettes and while health issues associated with smoking cigarettes are on the decline, the health issues with marijuana are increasing. The researchers added, that with the current trend, it is not inconceivable that Marijuana will exceed cigarettes in terms of the causative factor of health problems for Americans. In addition to this, the potency and addictive nature of Marijuana have dramatically risen over the past couple of decades, resulting in increasing mental health issues among users. Of course, activists were able to successfully pressure politicians into legalizing Marijuana …

Rudolf Höss, commander of Nazi Germany's Auschwitz Concentration Camp

A German movie, ‘The Zone of Interest’, asks a disturbing question: Could you have been a Nazi?

A German movie, The Zone of Interest, which was nominated for five Academy Awards, is about a German family and their father Rudolf Höss. Höss was the actual commander of the Auschwitz Concentration camp, where over one million Jews were slaughtered by Nazi Germany during World War II. The movie is based on first-hand accounts from Höss’ servants. The film focuses on the family life of Höss, his wife Hedwig, and their five children who lived beside the concentration camp. Though you never see scenes from the concentration camp, you hear the sounds of trains rolling by the Höss home delivering Jews to the death camp. You hear yells from the camp, machinery, cracks of whips, and other sounds associated with what is happening inside Auschwitz. Mark Legg who watched the film noted in his article for the Denison Forum, “Watching the Höss family ignore the sounds of daily thousands upon thousands of murders next door horrifies the audience—until you realize halfway through that you’ve likewise begun to ignore the sounds too.” “The Nazis were …

Assam, India

A state in India passed legislation that would see a Christian sentenced to three years in prison for praying for the sick

There is a bizarre thing happening in Assam, one of India’s states. A bill is winding its way through the political process that would make it illegal for someone to pray for a sick person to be healed, Christianity Today reports. The bill, which has been passed by the state legislature, has only one final hurdle to climb before it becomes legally binding. It must be signed by India’s president. With a population of 31 million, Assam is located in the Northeastern part of India and is 85% rural. Over the past several years, Christians living in this northeastern area of India have been subject to attacks because of their faith. Many believe the legislation, which is called the Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024, is directly targeting Christians who often pray for the sick. Though the legislation does not specifically refer to Christianity, it refers to what it describes as actions related to ‘magical healing’: “No person shall take any part in healing practices and magical healing propagation for treatment of any …
