Apparently, one person’s suffering is another person’s opportunity. With the prospects that COVID-19 is not going anywhere, and vaccines may become an annual event, Pfizer executives stated that this provides a “significant opportunity” for the company to jack up the price of its vaccine.

During last week’s Barclays Global Healthcare Conference, Pfizer CFO Frank D’Amelio and Senior VP of Investor Relations Chuck Triano told company investors that there could be a “significant opportunity” to increase vaccine prices if the COVID-19 pandemic turns endemic, meaning that the virus is always with the world — not unlike influenza.
D’Amelio and Triano added that people may need a third vaccine to deal with emerging coronavirus variants, or may also require a third dose as a booster.
During the conference, D’Amelio said, “If you look at how current demand and current pricing is being driven, it’s clearly not being driven by what I’ll call normal market conditions or normal market forces. … [I]t’s been driven by the pandemic state we’ve been in, and the needs of governments to secure doses from various vaccine suppliers.”

Corporate executives are not the only one who looked at the opportunities that COVID-19 might bring them, so did politicians.
In a presentation to donors in April 2020, President Joe Biden said much the same, stating he was excited by the opportunities the pandemic would provide the Democratic Party.

Speaking to donors during a phone call Tuesday night, former Vice President Joe Biden said the Wuhan coronavirus crisis has been “exciting” because it gives Democrats an opportunity to pursue their far-left political agenda.
“I believe because sort of, the blinders have been taken off because of this Covid crisis. I think people are realizing, ‘My Lord, look at what is possible. Look at the institutional changes we can make without us becoming a socialist country or any of that malarkey. That we can make to provide the opportunities to change the institutional drawbacks from education all the way through to all the other things we talked about,” Biden said according to the pool report of the call. “If I sound like I’m excited, I am.”

And it is not just corporate executives and presidential candidates who saw the opportunities presented by COVID. Speaking to the World Economic Forum in June 2020, Prince Charles stated that the pandemic was a “golden opportunity” for elitists to initiate a great green reset of the world economy.
