A study just conducted by the Washington Post (WP) has concluded that parents are continuing to choose to homeschool over a public school education for their children, Faithwire reports.
WP‘s study analyzed the stats for 7,000 school districts in 32 states from the start of the COVID pandemic in 2020 to the end of the school year in the spring of 2023.
During the height of the COVID pandemic, a significant percentage of parents decided to educate their children at home, but with schools returning to normal, the home-schooling trend is continuing.
What is equally surprising is that even in strongly Democrat states where government education is held in high regard parents are pulling their children out of public schools.
As an example, New York State has seen the number of parents deciding to homeschool their children double since 2017 and has the fastest growth rate for homeschooling in the country.
However, the state with the largest number of children being homeschooled remains Florida where over 154,000 children are being taught at home.
Overall the number of parents choosing to homeschool their children across America has grown by 51% since 2017.
Over the same period, the number of children in government schools has dropped by -4% and the number of children in private schools increased by 7%.
