A recent article by LA Time’s columnist, Jackie Calmes, is calling for an end of balanced and objective journalism and says that main stream journalists should instead be overtly praising the Democrat party and attacking the Republican Party.

Fox News reports that she called for an end of “both-siderism in political coverage,” (covering both sides of an issue) and called for harsher treatment of the Republicans, stating that “democracy is literally at stake.”

She also focussed her attention on journalists who have been critical of President Biden, and some wonder if she is alarmed by recent polls revealing Biden’s approval rating is in an absolute free fall, with only 36.4% of Americans stating he is doing a good or excellent job. Calmes’ accusation that mainstream journalists are fairly covering both sides of political issues are only allegations at this point.

According to Fox News, Calmes’ column gained praise from several main stream media types:

  • Jane Mayer (New York Times),
  • Nikole Hannah-Jones (New York Times Magazine),
  • John Harwood (CNN White House correspondent),
  • Jay Rosen (left-wing commentator),
  • Former NPR VP Bill Buzenberg, and
  • CNN’s newsletter, Reliable Sources.

This type of reporting is certain to continue the downward slide of Americans’ trust in the mainstream media.
