James Drain had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2015. This combined with his work at chemical plants, where methanol was used, started impacting his eyesight.
As his eyesight deteriorated, tests revealed that the optic nerve in his left eye was severely damaged. He was soon totally blind in his left eye.
His right eye had what is described as a fractured image. He was able to see things, but it was a jumbled mess. It was like a photo had been cut into pieces and its parts randomly put in different spots. His right eye was classified as 40% functioning.
In 2019, he was declared to be visually impaired and no longer allowed to drive. There was no cure. His condition was irreversible.
MS eventually forced James to start using a cane.
But he became a Christian and on August 14, 2023 he decided to be water baptized at his church, Grace Apostolic Church in Clawson, MI.
The miracle that followed was caught on camera. As James was coming out of the water, he felt in incredible joy and even briefly spoke in tongues.
Then you see the shocked look on James’ face. He blinks his eyes and starts looking around. He said the lights were incredibly intense. But then he started noticing things.
At first, James thought it was all his imagination. He turns to the pastor, who was baptizing him, and told him not to say anything, because he might be imagining things.
But he wasn’t.
James saw the faces of people and the individual flags at the far back of the room. Things that he had not been able to see for years.
He turned to the pastor and said, “I can see. I can really see.”
When the congregation realized what is taking place, they broke out into shouts of joy and applause.
Michael Jones of InspiringPhilosophy reports that after his healing, James went back to his doctors to find out what is going on.
They scanned his eyes and conducted an eye test. His optical nerve was completely restored. His eye test came back 20/25. It was better than before it started deteriorating.
He was even sent for an MRI scan, because his MS symptoms had disappeared.
James had been healed of both blindness and MS.
“This miracle wasn’t meant for me,” James said. “I mean, it’s a miracle that happened to me, but this was meant … as a beacon for others to see and to come and to learn to trust Jesus too.”
