Is water baptism intended to break down the racial divide?

Marcus Johnson, 23, was an undrafted free agent when he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016. He was injured early in his professional tryout and missed most of the training camp. He was waived, but then added to the Eagle’s 2016 practice roster. Johnson played for the Texas Longhorns in college. His stats were not outstanding. But this year, he impressed enough to make the Eagles’s 53-man roster. Just before the Eagles’s game against the Carolina Panthers on October 12, 2017, a game the Eagles won 38-23, Johnson sent out a photo and a tweet of him being baptized at the hotel pool where the team was staying. Johnson’s caption for the photo read: “First time being Baptized! Corporate Worship is a beautiful thing!! The teammates with their heads bowed seemed to be praying. This gathering included black and whites. CBS identified …

Flying sand and dense mist leads to a water baptism in Iraq

It’s a stirring account of an unusual water baptism that took place in the Euphrates River on January 21, 2006 in Iraq. On this day, the unit’s chaplain baptized an American soldier stationed at Rawa, Anbar province, in Northern Iraq. He was dressed in his typical sea-foam green camouflaged uniform. It was a dangerous time in that country. After the defeat of Iraq in 2003, militants were starting to re-assert themselves throughout the country. ISIS reportedly now controls this territory. The soldier was baptized in the Euphrates, an ancient river mentioned in the last book of the Bible — Revelation. In his vision of the end-times, the Apostle John saw the great river was completely dried up (Revelation 16:12) allowing a massive army from the East easy access to the area. We don’t know if John intended this passage to be interpreted literally or spiritually. You can tell from the video it is a massive river. One of the reasons the baptism could take place that day was due to the high wind that whipped …

After driving 20 hours, young man asks to be water baptized by ‘Duck Dynasty’ star Phil Robertson

Brian Richards lives in New Jersey and earlier this month he travelled to West Monroe, LA, the home town of the Robertson clan of ‘Duck Dynasty’ fame. It took him 20 hours to make the drive. On arriving, Brian went to White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ (Sunday, March 16, 2014) where the Robertson’s attend church. At the church, he asks to be baptized by the ‘Duck Dynasty’ patriarch, Phil Robertson. Phil is the father of the Robertson family and founder of Duck Commander, a duck call manufacturer, on which the popular A&E show is based. In December, A&E banished Phil from the program after comments he made about gays, but relented two weeks later because of the massive public backlash to A&E’s decision. Many accused A&E of trying to restrict free speech. Phil gladly agrees to baptize Brian. Two video clips of the baptism In the top video, we see the water baptism, where Phil says to Brian, “you are now going to die to sin. You’re going to be buried — the old you and …
