The other ‘looming’ pandemic

It was surprising to read this on the CBC website. As Canada’s state-owned broadcaster, the left-leaning news site is essentially the communications department for the Trudeau government. So, for it to even hint at questioning the lockdowns is shocking. But CBC wrote a story warning of another pandemic brewing because of the lockdowns. It is called cancer:

CBC explains:

“What we’re worried about, of course, is that there may be a tsunami of cancer out there that’s going to suddenly show up,” said Dr. Keith Stewart, director of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.

Cancer specialists are worried about the significant drop in the number of cancer screening, referrals and diagnoses in Canada since the pandemic began in March.

It doesn’t mean that cancer rates are dropping — experts say it means that cases are being missed and people aren’t getting the treatment they need.

According to the article, breast cancer screening is down 97%, Pap tests down 88% and fecal tests down 73%.

This is not the first time we have heard about this ‘other’ pandemic brewing because of the lockdowns.

Breitbart explains what is happening in Britain:

Hospital chemotherapy attendance fell by 66 per cent in April, per a University College London study for the British Medical Journal analysed by the newspaper. Urgent referrals for early cancer diagnosis dropped by up to 89 per cent, according to the same study. Delays to treatments are unlikely to be caught up to for years, the Daily Mail says, revealing that delays could cause a 20 per cent rise on deaths of new cancer patients in England alone.
