One of the biggest fears that people have when it comes to moving in the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit is what if I get it wrong?
You can be sure of one thing, as you grow in your ability to hear the voice of God, particularly in the revelatory gifts like prophecy, word of knowledge, and even wisdom you will make mistakes.
It takes courage to start moving in the spiritual gifts because it involves taking a risk. But as we move out in the supernatural gifts, God can still use us even through our mistakes.
An article on Christian Learning tells how the Holy Spirit used Jennifer Caldwell, who was training as part of Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM), even though she made a mistake hearing God’s voice.
She had gone to a park, believing that the Holy Spirit wanted her to pray and minister to a woman called Stephanie.
As she walked through the park, Jennifer would encounter women and ask if they were named Stephanie.
“I honestly, probably, looked crazy looking for someone named Stephanie with no kids at that, walking around the park. But I didn’t care; I was gonna find her,” Jennifer explained in a video posted on Instagram.
Despite her efforts, she was having no success in finding Stephanie and eventually, she decided to talk to a family who had been in the park all the time she was there. Jennifer asked the woman if her name was Stephanie.
Though she was ‘not Stephanie,’ when the woman asked Jennifer what she was doing, Jennifer explained that she was going through BSSM and believed God wanted her to pray for a woman in the park by that name.
Even though she was ‘not Stephanie,’ Jennifer ended up praying for the woman and returned to her car disappointed and of course wondering if she had made a mistake.
Two months later, Jennifer ran into ‘not Stephanie’ at another indoor rec center. When Jennifer said “Hi ‘not Stephanie’”, the woman broke into tears and shared the remarkable story of how her life had been changed by the encounter.
After hearing what Jennifer was doing, ‘not Stephanie’ decided to sign up for the same course and then added she was ready to move out but was scared that she might make a mistake.
“I’ve done all the courses, but I’m so scared to step out. What if I get it wrong?,” ‘not Stephie’ said.
But then Jennifer pointed out that though she had gotten it wrong with her, the Holy Spirit still used this encounter to impact ‘not Stephanie’.
