Astronomers are reporting that the state of Utah in the United States is being bombarded by a massive cosmic ray emanating from what is described as a large void in the universe, the Daily Mail reports.

Similar to what Jesus predicted, in the title of its article on the cosmic ray, the Daily Mail wondered if it was a “Sign from Above?”.

The ray, which is a cluster of high-energy particles traveling at the speed of light, has a power of 240 quintillion electron volts. That’s 240,000.000,000,000,000,000 volts compared to the 300,000,000 transmitted by a typical lightening bolt.

They have named the cosmic ray, Amaterasu, after the Japanese sun god.

The ray was first detected in May 2021 by an observatory in Utah. Astronomers are describing the celestial event as ‘unprecedented’ in terms of its power.

When astronomers started looking for the source of the ray, they traced it back to a barren void bordering the Milky Way and could not detect any source capable of emitting such a powerful ray.

‘That’s the mystery of this – what the heck is going on?’, said John Matthews a professor at the University of Utah.
