The Holy Spirit is moving

As we watch what is happening politically, culturally and even spiritually, as the Satanic Temple in Boston MA holds what it’s billing as the world’s largest satanic conference at the end of April, it would be easy to get discouraged.

But in spite of all that is happening, the Holy Spirit is moving in America.

When Jesus told Peter that he was the rock on which the church would be built, the Lord added these words “and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18).

Though gates speak of resistance and hindrances, the Greek word, katischuō, translated prevail means simply ‘to over power’ or ‘overcome.’

Whatever barriers, Satan is putting up to hinder the Kingdom of God, they will not stand.

Aside from the revival that broke out earlier this year at Asbury College, in an article for CBN, Benjamin Gill highlighted several social media posts and articles reporting how the Holy Spirit is moving across the US.

Below are a few of Gill’s examples:

Holy Spirit is moving in Cincinnati

Pastor Eric Petree of Citygate Church in Cincinnati, Ohio tweeted that they have seen 650 people give their lives to Christ over the past couple of weeks.

Petree may have even provided a clue as to why this is happening as he added in an earlier Tweet, that he is preaching on the Holy Spirit.

Barriers were broken down

One of the more interesting stories, involved a tweet by a prison ministry, God Behind Bars, which recently reported on 35 water baptisms at a prison in Reno, Nevada.

But the ministry added this intriguing detail that it was the first time they have had baptisms at this prison in seven years.

Though there was no mention of what has been hindering this from happening, it seems that whatever these barriers were, they have apparently disappeared.

Out of the Book of Acts

A curious thing happened at the University of Houston that jumps from the pages of the Book of Acts.

Remember that Bible story about the conversion of the Ethiopian Eunuch. Led by the Holy Spirit, Philip encountered a Eunuch from Ethiopia reading from the book of Isaiah. Philip explained that he was reading about Jesus the Messsiah.

After giving his life to the Lord, the Eunuch saw a pool of water and explained, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?”

Well, a similar thing happened at a Bible study being hosted at the university by Campus Ministry International. After the study, two people wanted to get baptized and apparently didn’t want to wait and were baptized that same night in a public fountain.

Revival in Damascus?

Difference Makers Church in Damascus, Maryland reports that revival broke out in mid-April resulting in several days of 24-hour worship.

But what caught my attention is that the Holy Spirit was specifically moving upon young people.

In a Facebook post, Jeremy Tucker wrote:

Worship has been going for 41 hours straight! Young people from churches all over Maryland/Virginia/DC are gathering to unite the bride of Christ for non-stop worship! We thought we’d never see it, but the Holy Spirit is finally breaking out in Maryland! Come Lord Jesus!”

Gill had many more examples and noted that even he wasn’t providing a complete list.

The Holy Spirit is moving.
