Poll: 50% of Americans believe mainstream media purposefully trying to mislead or misinform people

A poll conducted by Gallup and the Knight Foundation in 2022 and released on Wednesday, Feb 15, 2023, revealed how far America’s trust of the mainstream media has fallen, Global News reports.

The survey found that 50% of Americans believe the mainstream media is purposefully trying to mislead and misinform people or persuade the public on particular viewpoints when it comes to reporting the news. Only 25% believed that they were not.

As well, 52% of Americans did not believe the mainstream media was producing news that was in the best interest of the public. It seems that the majority of Americans believe the mainstream media has other agendas when it comes to reporting the news. Only 23% believed the legacy media acted in the public’s best interest.
