A poll conducted by Gallup and the Knight Foundation in 2022 and released on Wednesday, Feb 15, 2023, revealed how far America’s trust of the mainstream media has fallen, Global News reports. The survey found that 50% of Americans believe the mainstream media is purposefully trying to mislead and misinform people or persuade the public on particular viewpoints when it comes to reporting the news. Only 25% believed that they were not. As well, 52% of Americans did not believe the mainstream media was producing news that was in the best interest of the public. It seems that the majority of Americans believe the mainstream media has other agendas when it comes to reporting the news. Only 23% believed the legacy media acted in the public’s best interest. CNN hits record viewership lows

According to data published by Adweek, the average number of people watching CNN on Jan 10, 2023, was just 520,000, with only 120,000 of them in the key demographic, 25 to 54, coveted by advertisers, the Daily Caller reports. These are reportedly the lowest viewership numbers in CNN’s history. This could potentially lead to yet another round of layoffs at the beleaguered network which over the years has been accused of being little more than a shill for the Democrat Party. American trust in mainstream media at historic lows

According to a recent Gallup poll, America’s trust in the mainstream has fallen to a historic low, Forbes reports. The poll found that only 16% of US adults state they had ‘quite a lot’ or ‘great’ confidence in the mainstream newspapers, and only 11% said the same about television news. Equally, concerning is that the level of trust is down 5% on both accounts from a similar poll taken last year. Not surprisingly, the trust in the legacy media is highest among Democrats. In terms of television news, 20% of Democrats said they still trusted this medium, compared to just 8% of Independents and 8% of Republicans. When it came to the legacy newspapers, only 35% of Democrats fully trusted this news source, compared to 12% of Independents and 8% of Republicans.
