Orthodox Jews in Israel are calling a Christian Arab man, Amir Khoury, a hero after he died trying to thwart an attack in the city of Bnei Brak by Palestinian terrorists on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
The city with a population of over 200,000 is considered a Jewish Orthodox community as the majority of its citizens are Haredi Jews who hold a strict observance of the law and are often referred to as ‘ultra-orthodox.’
Khoury’s funeral was attended by hundreds of Orthodox Jews.
According to CBN:
Khoury, 32, was called to the scene of a terror attack on Tuesday in the Orthodox Israeli city of Bnei Brak, near Tel Aviv. He and another cop directly engaged with the Palestinian gunman and he was mortally wounded, making him one of the five victims who were killed in Tuesday’s attack. Israeli officials say his action prevented more deaths.
Busloads of Orthodox Jews from Bnei Brak came to attend Khoury’s funeral.
“He gave his life for others,” said Yaakov, an ultra-Orthodox Bnei Brak resident told Channel 13. “He’s from another people, but we are brothers. He fought for us. We are obligated to come [to his funeral]. There is no other possibility.”
