Sure it’s California, but even by their standards this is bizarre.
The New York Post is reporting that over two dozen cars were used to block a street so a swarm of people could pillage a Nordstrom store in Walnut Creek, California.
Nordstrom is a chain of luxury department stores found across America.
Though videos show people running to their vehicles with bags of items, reports state that only three people were arrested.
Fox News adds that over 80 people were involved, some of whom showed up with crowbars and weapons, with bystanders describing it as “a scene out of a movie.”
Of course, if the looters managed to steal less than $950, it is not really a crime in that state, as a recent law changed shoplifting below that amount into a misdemeanour.
This has resulted in organized shoplifting gangs in that state, and in some instances, gang leaders bring along calculators to make the people are not individually exceeding the $950 limit.
