A few days ago, I was watching a video put out by two university professors who were making a huge U-turn. It involved low levels of vitamin D and its connection to COVID.
In previous videos, they held the position that vitamin D was ineffective in combatting the virus, and in their most recent video they were now admitting they were wrong. After a review of the studies on vitamin D, they were telling people to take vitamin D because it helps in fighting COVID.
And yet another study has concluded that vitamin D is effective in battling COVID. This study stated that your chances of dying from COVID correlates directly with lower levels of vitamin D in your body.
Several studies have concluded that people who are seriously sick with COVID have very low levels of vitamin D, but some have tried to counter this by suggesting that it was COVID that caused the low levels of vitamin D, not the low level of vitamin D that resulted in the person becoming severely sick with the virus.
This analysis, conducted by several German researchers, decided to take a closer look at this issue: was COVID causing the vitamin D deficiency or was the vitamin D deficiency causing COVID severity.
They concluded without hesitation that it was low levels of vitamin D that caused COVID severity. They also stated that deaths from COVID could almost all be eliminated if people had the optimum amount of vitamin D in their blood.
The researchers wrote:
In this publication, we will demonstrate that vitamin D3 deficiency, which is a well-documented worldwide problem, is one of the main reasons for severe courses of SARS-CoV-2 infections. The fatality rates correlate well with the findings that elderly people, black people, and people with comorbidities show very low vitamin D3 levels. Additionally, with only a few exceptions, we are facing the highest infection rates in the winter months and in northern countries, which are known to suffer from low vitamin D3 levels due to low endogenous sun-triggered vitamin D3 synthesis.

In the video below, Dr John Campbell provides a closer analysis of this study.
He also says it is shocking that authorities have not been addressing the issues of vitamin D efficiency in their fight against COVID.
Yeah, I think it is tough being a superhero when something as simple as dealing with a vitamin D deficiency could effectively put an end to this pandemic.
As a side note, my wife and I have been getting the flu vaccine for years. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. But after reading several studies on vitamin D in the summer of 2020, we decided to start taking it daily, and all I can say is that in the middle of the COVID pandemic, this past winter was the healthiest I have ever felt.
