TechCrunch who was the first to report on this noted that TikTok announced it may start collecting “faceprints and voiceprints” of its users that of course includes millions of children.
TechCrunch added, that TikTok will also be “identifying the objects and scenery that appear, the existence and location within an image of face and body features and attributes, the nature of the audio, and the text of the words spoken in your User Content.”
Why would this type of information be necessary, and TechCrunch wondered the same thing?
The Daily Wire reports:
TechCrunch then explained that after being reached for comment on the forms of data that may be collected, “TikTok could not confirm what product developments necessitated the addition of biometric data to its list of disclosures about the information it automatically collects from users, but said it would ask for consent in the case such data collection practices began.”
Other forms of “technical information” recorded by the Chinese social media platform include “keystroke patterns or rhythms,” and “location information based on your SIM card and/or IP address.” The company is also vague regarding where such data is stored, saying that it may be recorded “outside of the country where you live,” and that TikTok maintains “major servers around the world to bring you our services globally and continuously.”
As noted above, TechCrunch alleges that this gathered data may be stored in servers outside the US.
It is uncertain why TikTok would want this type of information.
However, the same can’t be said for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), that is keenly interested in this type of data.
The CCP launched a massive Social Credit system in China where it tracks everything people say and do online. As well, it has over 200 million CCTV cameras monitoring what people are doing in the country.
Through this surveillance system, the CCP collects data on people, and it awards points for good communist behaviour and takes away points for bad communist behaviour.
If your points get too low, a person is unable to purchase such basic items as schooling for your kids and bus and airline tickets and even proper medical care.
The Bible has a few things to say about people being unable to buy or sell things:
16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.
18 This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man.[a] That number is 666. (Revelation 13:16-18 NIV)
