According to an article on Forbes, a lunar eclipse is scheduled to make an appearance on May 26, 2021. This will result in what is typically referred to as a blood moon, when the moon briefly turns red.

Blood moons occur during full and partial lunar eclipses when the earth blocks the suns rays from hitting the moon. During a lunar eclipse, the sun’s shorter-light wave lengths (blue and violet) bend around the Earth’s atmosphere, leaving only the longer-colour wave lengths in the Earth’s shadow — red, yellow or orange — which in turn gives the moon a blood-red appearance.

The event is being referred to as a super blood moon because it involves a full eclipse of the moon and will be visible in North and South America and as well parts of Asia, Australian and islands in the Pacific Ocean.

Blood moons and other solar events are often associated with end times events in the Bible. But it is important to understand that blood moons on their own are not necessarily significant, because they are a regular occurrence on earth.

In Biblical prophesy, blood moons become significant because of the other events that take place at the same time.

In his vision of the end times, the Apostle John saw a blood moon associated with several events:

12 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. (Revelation 6:12)

We notice that this particular blood moon will appear at the time of a “great” or mega earthquake and a solar eclipse.

And coincidentally, the May 26, 2021, blood moon will be followed a few days later by a ring of fire solar eclipse, when the moon only blocks out the central area of the sun leaving a ring of fire around its outer edge.

The solar eclipse, that will take place on Sunday, June 10, 2021, will be visible in parts of Northern Canada, Greenland and Russia.

But the blood moon that the Apostle John saw also coincided with several stars striking the earth, like figs being slammed into the ground after being hit by a massive wind.

Now, this could refer to several meteors and asteroids hitting the earth, but I wonder if John may have been seeing a nuclear war.

I suspect this because John would have no idea what a nuclear weapon looks like and would use words from his vocabulary to describe what he is seeing.

Intercontinental ballistic missiles, of course, leave the earth’s atmosphere and then reenter, and in the process appear like a burning star before unleashing a payload consisting of several nuclear warheads.

Whether they are asteroids or nuclear weapons, along with the great earthquake, John reports that these events will cause the mountains and islands to shift.

We know that the 8.8 earthquake that hit Chile in 2004, not only moved mountains, but shifted the earth’s axis by three inches resulting in our days being shortened by 1.26 micro seconds.

The prophet Joel also talks about a blood moon, but he ties it with volcanic activity, as the prophet refers to “columns of smoke”. The plural indicates more than one volcanic eruption, but the amount of volcanic activity is so significant that the ash will cause the sun to be turned to darkness (Joel 2:30-31).

So on their own, blood moons are not significant, but become signs of the end times when closely linked to other apocalyptic events.
