Norwegian doctors were shocked by the dramatic healing that took place in America when Adrian, now 16, was prayed for during a church meeting in 2015.

Shortly after Adrian was born, he developed a mysterious illness that doctors were unable to explain. He became extremely sick whenever he ate. Because eating caused such serious symptoms, he was fed by IV for several years and during the first three years of his life, Adrian spent weeks in hospital.

As a result of his illness, his muscles were weakening, and he was also experiencing epileptic seizures and a racing heart condition called tachycardia.

When he was 11 years old, doctors recommended that Adrian’s Christian parents take their son on a trip. They were probably envisioning a trip to Disneyland and the California beaches, through which the family could build some memories of their son, because there was growing uncertainty on how long Adrian would live.

However, Adrian’s parents had been calling out to God for their son. And part of their trip to the US, included attending a conference at Bethel Church, in Redding, California.

During one of the sessions on divine healing, a leader asked if anyone needed prayer. Adrian tentatively stuck up his hand and a young man came over and prayed for him.

There was no dramatic sign Adrian had been healed, but that night as they ate, Adrian asked for a breadstick. Because of the severe reactions that Adrian had when eating solid foods, he would join the family at mealtime, but rarely ate.

After eating this breadstick, Adrian’s parents braced for the inevitable aftermath of violent sickness, but his parents were shocked when nothing happened.

The next morning, Adrian shocked his mother again when he asked when breakfast was. Adrian had been dramatically healed and hasn’t been sick since. When the family returned to Norway, his doctors called it a miracle.

Adrian was healed when that young man laid hands on him and prayed. It is important we understand something about divine healing that many of us miss.

There is an interesting verse in Luke, that describes how Jesus healed the sick.

Luke writes:

¹⁹ and the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all. (Luke 6:19 NIV)

People were not wanting Jesus to pray for them, they were just trying to touch Christ because the healing was flowing out of Him. It is very similar to the story involving the woman with an issue of blood found two chapters later in Luke 8.

Similar to Adrian, Luke writes that the woman had been suffering from her affliction for a long time, 12 years, and doctors had not been able to provide any relief.

When Jesus arrived a crowd quickly gathered and the woman pushed her way through this large group of people, touched Jesus’ cloak, and was instantly healed.

Immediately, Jesus turned to His disciples and asked who had touched him. Because there were so many people jostling Christ at the moment, the disciples were a bit perplexed by the question.

But then Jesus explained:

⁴⁶ … “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” (Luke 8: 48 NIV)

The Lord actually felt the healing power leave Him. It is important that we understand that Jesus was functioning on earth as fully man. He was an example of how healing works today.

For years, I believed that when we prayed for the sick that divine healing would somehow drop from the sky. This is not what happens.

As the Temple of God, the Holy Spirit resides inside you. This means the healing will emanate from you. When you lay your hands on someone to be healed, the healing virtue of the Holy Spirit moves from inside you to the person you are touching.

Now there can be hindrances that block this healing surge. Of course, unbelief is the main ones.

But there are different types of unbelief.

Many Christians believe that God can heal the sick. Theologically we agree with that and even believe that.

But when asked if they personally can heal the sick, this is when the unbelief starts. They don’t believe God will use them to heal the sick, that’s reserved for the healing evangelists and other powerful ministers.

But if you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you are God’s powerhouse. You have the power to heal the sick inside you. You need to pray for the sick believing they can be healed by the laying on of YOUR hands.
