As America seems to be descending into darkness and chaos through nightly riots, I wonder if God is raising up a standard against this onslaught.

Worship leader Sean Feucht has taken to the streets of many cities hit by recent riots to hold outdoor worship services proclaiming God’s goodness and hope.

This past weekend, Sean ended up in America’s northeast and held services in New Jersey, New York City and Boston. According to several reports there was a genuine move of God at all three locations with large crowds showing up even despite the rain.

In New York City several people were saved and according to Dr Charles Karuka, who pastors NYC’s International Outreach Church, 29 people were water baptized in a fountain located in Washington Square Park.

CBN writes:

“This place is filled with people about to get baptized in the fountains of Washington Square Park,” Feucht said. “Some of them just got saved…some are rededicating.”

In a video shared on Facebook, Dr. Karuku described the occasion as a “move of God” after 29 people were baptized Saturday night in NYC, including a family of five. 

The following night in Boston, hundreds of people showed up for the service at the Boston Commons, and the changing spiritual climate amazed pastors who had been working in that city for years.

Boston pastor Dr Roberto Miranda described what he was seeing this way:

“It’s hard to believe we are in Boston right now.”

But one thing that caught my attention was a statement written on a sign at the service in Lincoln, New Jersey that read “Worship is Warfare.”

Many of us don’t consider worship as a form spiritual warfare but it is. In the Old Testament, the Godly King of Judah, Jehoshaphat, actually sent out worship leaders to lead his army into battle.

It is an interesting story, because at the beginning of his reign, God protected Jehoshaphat so that none of his enemies were interested in attacking him (2 Chronicles 17:10).

Though there was a time of peace, things were obviously brewing in the background. These enemies were plotting and scheming and in 2 Chronicles 20, we read that God allowed this evil to surface.

God wanted it exposed so it could be dealt with. But in this process, it became a challenging and scary time for Judah.

And when the Ammonites, Moabites along with some Meumites launched attacks against Judah, Jehoshaphat turned to God in prayer, and the prophet told Jehoshaphat that this battle belonged to God (2 Chronicles 20:15).

And with this prophetic word, Jehoshaphat sent the Temple’s worshippers and singers in front of the army as Judah’s military went out to engage the enemy.

But then a strange thing happened:

²² When they began singing and praising, the Lord set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were ^[a]routed. ²³ For the sons of Ammon and Moab rose up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir destroying them completely; and when they had finished with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

2 Chronicles 20:22-23 NASV

We are not exactly sure what these ambushes were but it I don’t believe it involved Judah’s army, because we are told it was the Lord who set them.

And these ambushes had a specific purpose, they were intended to cause confusion and division in the enemies’ ranks. This resulted in the three armies attacking and basically obliterating each other.

So, as we look at what is happening in America, I wonder if God is allowing this in order to expose the evil. If so, I suspect it is the satanic Marxist philosophy, that has crept into our universities, politics and US society.

I know there are probably some who would question if the problem is Marxism. I believe it is. Karl Marx the founder of communism used to write poetry and here is what Marx wrote in one of his poems entitled The Player:

“The hellish vapours rise and fill the brain, till I go mad and my heart is utterly changed.

See this sword? The prince of darkness sold it to me.”

Marx said the Prince of Darkness sold a sword to Marx, and violence, mayhem and oppression has been the trademark of Communism since its inception.

But we need to pray believing that God is setting traps for this enemy.
