Sweden didn’t lock down the country when the COVID-19 hit. Elementary schools kept going. Businesses stayed open. Their leading epidemiologist doesn’t even want people to wear masks. Sweden was mocked, pilloried, criticized, condemned, chastised for not following the main stream narrative. Instead of quarantining the healthy, they tried to focus their attention on those most vulnerable, the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.
Without a lockdown, Sweden officials knew there would be a spike in cases, but their health system handled the surge just fine.
And now it is all over in Sweden. New COVID cases and deaths are in an absolute free fall. It is all over because Sweden has achieved herd immunity. Meaning they stopped the pandemic by letting most people get it, knowing full well that the vast majority of people would have minimal to no symptoms.
Meanwhile, other countries are now bracing for a second COVID wave and many are instituting a second lockdown, which is some instances are more dystopian than the first lockdown. (In your mind, please insert definition of insanity here.)
The Daily Mail explains:
Yet Sweden is seeing a sustained drop in cases, with some experts even suggesting it may be close to herd immunity in the capital Stockholm.
The number of deaths, new cases and patients in intensive care has fallen dramatically.
On one key measure – percentage change in new confirmed cases over the past fortnight relative to the previous 14 days – Sweden is down more than a third.
This contrasts with sharp rises in neighbouring Denmark, Finland and Norway, along with countries such as Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.
Meanwhile, the latest data suggests Sweden is suffering less severe economic trauma than most major European nations, while it has, almost uniquely among Western countries, kept schools open.
The article even quotes Swedish people who are looking upon their leading medical epidemiologist as a “hero” because he did not bend the knee to lockdown narrative.
