Hey, Let’s Argue About Climate Change!

So, do you want to argue? About anything? Me neither. I strongly recommend not arguing about climate change. If you argue against the “received orthodoxy” you will be labeled, and you won’t like the label. Apparently, somewhere in the world, this is a push to make “climate change denial” into a crime. Imagine facing a judge, and possibly going to prison because of your opinions. Brace yourself, some of us may actually experience that. Climate change is not the only topic to argue about these days. Here is an example of a scientific argument about climate change. Note; I’m not choosing sides, I just want to illustrate that we believe things, and we argue and disagree. It’s our human condition: If you want to know more, you could search for titles like “Climate: The Movie.” I don’t want to choose sides here, but there are different sides, and the debate is fierce. If you search, you can find controversy, arguments, and words like “heretic” in discussions about climate change. We can also find the same …

Russell Brand discusses water baptism and churches in a recent Instagram post

In a recent Instagram post, actor Russell Brand asked for advice on what church to attend and also had questions on water baptism, as he was considering that as well, the Christian Post reports. Brand has starred in several movies and is also a popular podcaster with 6.8 million followers on YouTube and over 1.8 million followers on Rumble. Brand, 48, who is facing numerous allegations of historical sexual assault, has indicated an increased interest in Jesus and the Christian faith since December 2023, when announcing he had started reading the Bible. Though he didn’t provide specific details in his most recent video, it appears he is taking an Alpha course at the Church of England. But was wondering about other denominations including the Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic and asked what the difference was. He has been attending different churches and mentioned that one of his favorites was a Baptist church, that he had attended in the US. “The Baptist church was the best church experience I’ve ever had! Very exciting, so connected 🥰(I …

Josh Kezer falsely imprisoned for murder

Sentenced to 60 years in prison for a murder he never committed, Josh Kezer was able to forgive

There was no DNA. The justice department didn’t even have a weapon, fingerprints, a motive, or any way of connecting the man to the murder of Mischelle Lawless from Sikeston, Missouri in 1992, who had been beaten and shot three times. In fact, the blood found beneath the murdered girl’s fingernails as she initially fought back against her assailant did not match Josh Kezer’s blood, who was charged and ultimately found guilty of her murder. The justice department was able to convict Josh because of a ‘fabricated story’ and ‘false testimonies’ given by jailhouse snitches looking for a lighter sentence, Christian Learning reports. As a result, Josh, who was 17 at the time at the time of the murder, was sentenced to 60 years and would spend the next 16 years in prison for a crime he never committed. Before his conviction, Josh had also chosen to believe in Jesus, and it was his faith that helped him survive his false imprisonment. Josh admits during the darkest hours, there were a couple of times he …

15th century gold ring with image of Christ on in it found in Kalmar, Sweden

15th-century gold ring with an image of Jesus discovered in Sweden

Swedish archaeologists have uncovered an ancient gold ring with an image of Christ on it in the city of Kalmar. It was one of over 30,000 finds discovered in preparation for a major water and sewage infrastructure project in the city. Parts of the city date back to medieval times, CBN reports. The ring, which was in mint condition, is considered one of the major discoveries at the site. Because of the size, it’s believed the ring was worn by a woman and was lost sometime in the 15th century. Another major find included an alsengem, a glass-type stone used as an amulet by pilgrims to ward off evil. The amulet, however, had been broken and was probably thrown away. It is dated to around the same time. Curiously, the image on the ring depicts Jesus with long hair and beard and reveals the profound influence that the Shroud of Turin had on portrayals of Jesus in paintings and other mediums. The shroud, which some believe to be Christ’s burial cross, was first put on …

The majority of Americans believe religion is losing its influence in society, poll finds

There may be some good news in a recent poll conducted by Pew Research that discovered most Americans (80%) believe religion is losing its influence in society, the Christian Post reports. The poll also revealed that most of those who are sensing this also feel uneasy about the change that is taking place. In fact, 49% of Americans actually stated the declining influence of religion is a bad thing and 57% stated that religion had a positive influence on society. In contrast, only 8% of Americans believe the declining influence of religion in society is a good thing. Unfortunately, this means that a small, but vocal, minority has been able to negatively influence American life by dominating key areas such as politics, entertainment, and mainstream media/social media. In addition, 48% of Americans believe that ‘some’ or a ‘great deal’ of their religious views are in conflict with socially accepted cultural norms. This percentage reflects the rapid negative changes that have taken place in America since 2020, when only 24% of Americans similarly believed their religious …

New York City seen through a hole in metal wire fence

Half of New Yorkers ready to abandon the city over the next 5 years

A recent survey of New Yorkers by The Citizens Budget Commission found that half of the city’s residents are planning to leave the city over the next five years, the New York Post reports. One of the major reasons that people are ready to pack their bags is because many no longer feel safe in the city, due largely to politicians and other elected officials who have gone soft on crime. When asked about the safety of the communities, only 37% stated that it was good or excellent. Five years ago, nearly 60% felt their communities were safe. Only half of those surveyed said they felt that it was safe to use the city’s subway system during the day. When asked the same question in 2017, 80% stated it was safe. None of this is surprising, as the NYPD reports that there have been significant increases in crime between 2017 and 2023. The number of reported murders, rapes, burglaries, assaults, robberies, grand larceny, and auto theft has risen from 96,700 in 2017 to 126,800 in …
