Polls by Gallup over the past few years have uncovered a growing interest in religion among young men.

A survey conducted in 2024 and 2025 found that 42% of men aged 18 to 29 said that religion was ‘very important’ to them.

Equally significant this interest has climbed dramatically in recent years.

A similar survey of men in this age group in 2022 to 2023 found only 28% of young men said that religion was very important.

In a matter of two years, the percentage has nearly doubled.

But the survey wasn’t all good news. It also found that women in this same age group were lagging behind. The 2024 t0 2025 survey revealed that only 29% of women stated that religion was ‘very important’.

Young men’s growing interest in religion is also showing up in church attendance. Forty percent of young men stated that they attended a religious service at least once a month in 2024 t0 2025 up from 33% two years earlier.

This increased religious interest among young men is not isolated to just the US.

Renown for its secularism, church attendance in Finland has dropped over the past several decades. But it has stabilized in recent years due in part to increasing attendance by young men.

In a 2024 presentation, Hanna Salomäki, a researcher for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, reported that the percentage of young men (aged 15 t0 29) attending church at least once a month increased from 5% in 2011 to 12% in 2019.

While the number of women in that age group also increased it wasn’t nearly a dramatic. It only rose from 3% to 4%.

So what is behind this increased interest in religion among young men?

Jeremiah Johnston pastors Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano Texas. He was recently interviewed by Todd Starnes. Johnston, who studies cultural and societal trends, is not surprised by the growing interest in religion among young men.

“They’re tired of going to places that do not challenge them intellectually, And what’s awesome about the church today is… we’re raising the intellectual quotient of young men. We’re challenging them to be limitless in their faith.”

He added that the Christian faith gives young men a sense of purpose, that many are lacking today.

“When you live on mission, for mission, on purpose, for purpose… we’re part of the greatest force for good on planet Earth,” Johnston said.
