It is becoming more than just a coincidence, but another church, this time in Texas, recently announced it has performed a record number of water baptisms this year and there are still two and a half months left.
In a recent social media post, Champion Forest Church, based in Houston, Texas, stated that it has baptized 755 people so far this year. This is the third year in a row of record-breaking numbers of water baptisms for the church.
Over the past several months, there have been numerous reports of unusual numbers of people being water baptized. The most interesting was the spontaneous baptism that took after a worship meeting at Alabama’s Auburn University in September.
The baptism had not been planned and took place at the end of the service when someone texted a pastor leading the service if they could get water baptized.
A few moments later, 200 people responded when those attending the meeting were asked if any more wanted to get baptized. The baptism took place later that evening at a nearby lake.
While recent polls suggest that fewer Americans are stating that they believe in God, these baptisms suggest that those who do are becoming more serious about their Christian faith.
