“But now they mock me, men younger than I, whose fathers I would have disdained to put with my sheep dogs.” (Job 30:1 NIV)

A recent survey conducted by Pew Research Center found that Christians are more apt to own a dog as a pet than a cat, Christianity Today reports.

The survey found that for Christians who owned pets, 75% had a dog compared to only 43% who had cats.

When it came down to Christians who only had one pet, they were twice as likely to have a dog (53%) than a cat (21%).

The article reported on a humorous comment by Mary Stewart van Leeuwen, the former editor for Christianity Today, which explained the difference between dogs and cats. She wrote:

There’s a joke in veterinary medicine: ‘Dogs have masters and cats have servants.’

Curiously, one of the names of an ancient Biblical hero is actually derived from the Hebrew word for dog which is celeb.

Of course, I am referring to none other than Caleb, who along with Joshua, were the only two of the 12 spies to bring back a good report after Moses sent in 12 men, a representative from each tribe, to spy out the Promised Land.
