Israel 365 News, an orthodox Jewish website, reports that Elon Musk is threatening to sue the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for $22 billion.

The ADL was established in 1913 to fight antisemitism in America.

Musk alleges he has evidence the ADL has been interfering with his advertisers by falsely accusing X, formerly called Twitter, of being antisemitic and this has resulted in a drop in advertising revenue for the social media platform.

According to Israel 365, ADL responded by calling the threats of a lawsuit as antisemitic.

But it is not just Musk who seems to have a problem with ADL, so do many Orthodox Jews.

In an op-ed for Israel 365 News, Rabbi Pesach Wolicki, who heads the Center for Jewish-Christian Understanding and Cooperation, expressed his concerns about ADL’s current CEO, Jonathan Greenblatt, who joined the organization in 2014:

Ever since Greenblatt assumed leadership of the ADL, he has turned the organization into a partisan organ devoted to crushing political conservatives and promoting the most left-wing and progressive causes”. […]

“It’s time for Orthodox Jews to correct this state of affairs by declaring loudly and clearly that groups like the ADL and Jews like Soros, Levine, and Schiff do not represent us. We must make it clear that we want nothing to do with their agenda, that we, alongside our Christian allies, are fighting them every step of the way.”

Jonathan Tobin, the editor-in-chief of Jewish News Syndicate, another vocal opponent of Greenblatt, described ADL’s CEO as “a veteran Democratic Party operative with no experience working in the field.”

Israel 365 News adds:

Prior to heading the ADL, Greenblatt served in the White House as Special Assistant to Barack Obama. Greenblatt has been accused of turning the organization into a mouthpiece for the Democratic Party and adopting liberal agendas that contradict Jewish values.”
