According to a report on Israel365 News, the water levels of the Euphrates River in Syria have hit historic lows with the Alouk water station no longer able to provide water for farms in Northeast Syria since late June.

At 1,700 miles (ca. 2,736 km) in length, the Euphrates is the longest and arguably most important water system in this region of the world. The low water levels are being attributed to large hydroelectric dams on the river in both Syria and Turkey and the recent severe drought that has hit the region.

If no action is taken, Iraq’s Ministry of Water Resources predicted that both the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers would be completely dry by 2040.

Many wonder if this may be part of a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy, as the prophet Jeremiah predicted that a day was coming when the Euphrates River would be dry because of a drought (Jeremiah 50: 38-39).

In the Book of Revelation, a description of the Apocalyptic days leading to Christ’s second coming, John saw angelic activity leading to the Euphrates River becoming completely dry (Revelation 16:12).
