LifeWise Academy, a Christian ministry that provides Biblical education to public school students, has announced that it will have over 30,000 students enrolled in its program starting this fall, the Christian Post reports.

LifeWise, which started in 2019, now provides the program in over 300 schools located in 11 states including West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, Iowa, Ohio, and Kansas.

According to its CEO and founder, Joel Penton, parents and schools are open to the program, and it has gotten around the constitutional issues by implementing what is described as ‘release time.’

The practice, which involves the students leaving the school with the parent’s and schools’ permission to attend the classes, was deemed constitutional in a 1952 Supreme Court ruling.

The classes which are held off the school grounds must also be privately funded and cannot be promoted by the school or teachers.

When LifeWise first started its program in 2019 it was only available in two Ohio schools.
