Are we at the end of the world? Did COVID and vaccine mandates start the beginning of the end? Are those Canadian truckers part of the new wave?
You have probably heard about the truck drivers in Canada who are protesting against government restrictions. The government claims that they are a small fringe group, and most of the population does not agree with them; they are a fringe minority expressing unacceptable views do not represent the majority. That is the common position for most of the media, and politicians.
A recent opinion survey asked people in Canada what they thought about the protest convoy, and almost eighty percent claimed to support it. We have some trucks with flags and loud horns, where I live, and I saw some people on an overpass bridge with flags and signs, waiting for a local convoy to pass. There are reports, in some places, that the convoys stretched for miles.
This is too big to ignore.
I am surprised by the size of this reaction. Friends of mine agree or disagree, and I think that’s normal. I have a complaint, or a protest. Sometimes the important issues are small and personal.
We had a neighbor named Art, who was an older retired man. He was friendly, and I liked him. About two weeks ago, before the trucker protests started, Art stopped communicating with us. Some of us worried for him, and I finally convinced someone who knew him well to call the police for a welfare check.
They found Art in his bed, where he died. He had been dead for about two weeks. Art had many serious health problems, so his death is not surprising, but it is sad for me.
We also learned that the police “conferenced” with a medical examiner and declared that Art had died of COVID. The police officer probably made a phone call. Most of us, who knew Art, believe it’s impossible to know what ended his life; two weeks after he died. You may disagree, but I think the COVID death statistics were inflated to support one argument.
It hurts to see my old friend used in that way.
Multiply my feelings by thousands, even millions, and it’s easy to understand what drives the protests that we see around the world, including truck drivers in Canada. There are too many “Art” stories. So many of us are sad or angry.
So, are we coming to the end of the world?
We are told, in the Bible, that we will come to the end of our time in history, and that could happen soon. The world might continue, but Jesus will come back and change the way we do things. That is the promise:
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” (Revelation 21:5)
We need something new.
When the old things grow out of control, we need an intervention from God; and our man-made world is showing signs of corruption and breakdown.
Here is a basic primer:
1) The Antichrist:
A corrupt force will emerge in this world “I saw a beast coming out of the sea … The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority.” (Revelation 13: 1 and 2)
There will be controls on the population “It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.” (Revelation 13: 16 to 18)
The Greek expression for folding back a cloth cover to see what is hidden beneath is “apocalypsos” or “revelation” in English. That is the name of the last book in the Bible, the book of the Apocalypse or Revelation.
The corruption in this world will end in one final battle, when God will intervene. The battle will happen in a large valley, “hor” in Hebrew. That valley is next to an ancient town of Megiddo, so Armageddon is Hor-Megiddo, a final battle that will happen in a valley in northern Israel. “They assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.” (Revelation 16: 16)
These things are predicted, in the book filled with predictions that always come true.
So, is this the end?
We can see how it will happen. Imagine our world, after our problems have a chance to grow.
We need an intervention:
