Christianity Today recently reported on a study by Fenders Musical Instruments Corporation, a major US guitar manufacturer, that revealed nearly one in three new guitar purchases are to worship leaders or people playing in praise and worship bands.
It described Christian bands as one of its core consumers.
Ultimate Guitar (UG) also reported that praise and worship music is the largest music genre in America where guitars are regularly used.
UG estimates over one million musicians are playing their guitars at churches each week, adding that unlike many guitar players, those involved in praise and worship bands have a guaranteed gig each week.
It added that as other venues closed down during the COVID lockdowns, churches continued to function online, with guitars regularly featured during online worship services.
