The Daily Wire is alleging that the owner of a socialist magazine called Current Affairs has fired several employees for acting like socialists.
The company was started by Nathan J. Robinson, a renown socialist who wrote a book “Why You Should Be A Socialist.”
As part of their plan to bring an end to the ruling bourgeoisie, the term Karl Marx used to describe the ruling class, the workers at Current Affairs were wanting to form a coop where the worker proletariat (Karl Marx’s term for working class) would share the authority of running the business with Robinson.
This was Marxism in its purest form.
However, the workers allege that when they tried to set up this Marxist utopia, several were fired.
The Daily Wire provided an excerpt of a letter allegedly written by five members of the Current Affairs’ proletariat who were let go:
Dear comrades, We, the former full and part-time staff, write to you with deep sadness and disappointment about recent events that have occurred at Current Affairs. On August 8th, editor-in-chief Nathan J. Robinson (author of Why You Should Be A Socialist) unilaterally fired most of the workforce to avoid an organizational restructuring that would limit his personal power. Yes, we were fired by the editor-in-chief of a socialist magazine for trying to start a worker co-op.
Of course, Robinson had a slightly different take on the situation.
The Daily Wire reports, that Robinson “addressed the situation on Facebook, saying that while he was “not a capitalist,” the socialist magazine had become “inefficient” as workers came and went as they pleased.”
