According to a recent poll conducted by the American Bible Society and Barna, the number of Americans who opened a Bible in 2020 was up 7.1% over 2019.
Roughly translated this means 181 million Americans read their Bible last year compared to only 169 million in 2019.
Not only did more Americans read their Bible, but the survey also revealed Americans were reading their Bible more. In 2019, 12% of Americans reported reading their Bible at least four days a week, and in 2020, this had increased to 16%.
Overall, 24% of those polled stating they read their Bible more last year than in 2019.
What was also curious is that 37% of people who identified with other religions stated that they read a Bible between three to four times last year.
