Do you believe the ‘End is Nigh’? Do you think the world is about to change in a big way, and we can’t reverse the change? Do you believe that Jesus is coming back soon?
These days, almost everyone who is anyone believes one of those ideas, or something similar. There is a sense everywhere that this time in history will end soon. Our little day is approaching sunset.
So, who believes in climate change? Who thinks we are altering our environment, and we will have intense global warming, with severe food shortages; and the ice caps will melt and the oceans will rise and flood coastal cities?
Our leaders in this are politicians and celebrities. It’s a New Age religion, Jesus is not mentioned, but the Bible has been telling us for thousands of years that the end will come, and now everyone is starting to believe. Christians have called this the ‘Second Coming’ and the New Age leaders might talk about Global Warming. Strangely, whether we are believers or deniers in Jesus, we are all saying the same thing.
The End is Nigh.
Two thousand years ago, the Bible predicted something about our belief in the end, and we are seeing this prediction now. We believe and deny at the same time.
For example; you probably know the name Al Gore. This famous politician became the great leader of the climate change activists, for several years, and he wrote many books, including “An Inconvenient Truth: The Crisis of Global Warming.”
He spoke often on the need for us to change. He has been less active recently, and one reason for his silence might be his personal life style. Someone investigated Al Gore and discovered that he lived in a large and expensive house, his personal mansion. Just keeping the lights on in that house burned more electricity than several African villages.
And then someone visited Antarctica, to report on a visit by Greenpeace activists, who were concerned about our effect on the climate of remote places. Reporters and scientists found that it was easy to trace the route of the activists, on land. They just followed the trail of cigarette butts and plastic candy wrappers, strewn across the pristine environment. A penguin could die from ingesting that garbage. Ironically, the activists think we should change.
And you might have heard about the Obamas, the former President and First Lady of the United States. They advocate modest life styles for people like us, and they are close associates of climate change activists. Recently they bought a beachfront mansion for fifteen million dollars. ‘Beachfront’ means the house is doomed; it will soon be under water, as the oceans rise, if you believe what they tell us.

Where I live, we had a visit from the famous singer Neil Young. We have a large oil and gas industry, and he lectured us severely about the need to change our ways. People are still laughing because he drove here with a large fleet of motor coach buses. While he was lecturing his audiences about their bad behavior, those buses were belching diesel exhaust in the parking lot; twenty-four hours a day, for days and possibly weeks.
I have worked as a trainer and driver for those machines, and they were probably Prevost motor coaches with Cummins diesel engines. The amount of fuel that he burned, to tell us to burn less fuel, is shocking. One fuel bill for one coach is more than a thousand dollars, and they probably re-fueled several times; and that was all to support one person.
And you might have heard about the recent climate change conference in Sicily, apparently organized by Google. This important conference was attended by Hollywood movie stars and other fabulously successful people. Prince Harry gave a speech in bare feet. Ironically again, many of the guests arrived on private jets or large yachts, with huge diesel engines.
The list goes on and on, and an honest believer in climate change must know the truth.
If there is any truth in the alarms about climate change, there seems to be no truth in the people who are leading us. One celebrity party on a yacht leaves an enormous carbon footprint, with a large diesel engine belching exhaust from a vent, into our atmosphere. One small automobile on a trip across town does not compare. The famous people who are leading us to save the planet will take us down, not up.
Jesus told us about the end, long ago. Something will destroy life on this planet:
Those ancient words match our modern news stories; and Jesus did talk about environmental disasters:
As promised by Jesus, we all see the end coming:
Our option is; who will we choose to save us?
