Kendall Jenner, 19, model and reality show star, recently came out as Christian on her website (subscription required). Kendall is the daughter of Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender activist formerly known as Bruce Jenner and Kris Kardashian.

She is part of a blended Kardashian/Jenner family that includes sister Kylie and eight half-siblings.

Kendall stars on the popular reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. The show, which started in 2007, is produced by E!’s cable network and is the longest running reality show in America.

The program focuses primarily on the three Kardashian sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloé  and their half sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. There have also been spinoffs including Kourteny and Kloe Take the Hamptons.

In a recent post on her website, Kendall says though she wasn’t raised in a Christian home, she was “definitely taught — even by my sisters — to believe in God.” She says that the family’s actual church attendance was limited to Easter and Christmas.

Referring to her faith as more spiritual than religious, Kendall says “I pray every night and I 100 percent identify as Christian.” She also stated that she believes God has a plan for her life.

Kendall’s model career has recently taken off and she is now considered a leading figure in the resurgence of the super models. Her fame was even noted by US President Barack Obama who stated:

“I’m not sure what she does, but I’m told my Twitter mentions are about to go through the roof.”

In recent years, there has been a definite Christian influence in the Kardashian/Jenner family. Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr. of Miami performed the marriage of rapper Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in 2014.

IBTimes reports that Kourteny Kardashian and her boyfriend Scott Disick have even attended a service Wilkerson was leading at Miami’s Trinity Church where Wilkerson was ministering. According to reports, Wilkerson has been counseling Scott on addiction problems.

Trinity is an Evangelical, Charismatic church and Kourteny said that her boyfriend was caught up in the Charismatic expression and lifting his hands.

Wilkerson currently pastors Vous Church in Miami which according to its website desires to “reach our city and beyond with the life transforming message of Jesus.” The church is an offshoot of Trinity Church that is providing support to the new work.

One of the major ministries of Vous Church and Trinity Church is the Vous Conference. Thousands of people attend the annual event that focuses on the arts and culture.

In the current Hollywood culture, I applaud any celebrity who comes out as a Christian. Though on the cautionary side, believing in God is not necessarily the same thing as believing in Jesus.

Curiously, God’s connection to the Kardashian family may go back over a century.

The Kardashian family is originally from Armenia and during the mid 1800s there was a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the church group, the Molokans, that the Kardashians were involved with.

A prophetic word was given by an 11-year old boy during the 1850s warning that the Armenians needed to leave the area and move to the US. Perhaps due to the age of the boy it was largely ignored.

During the troubling times leading up to World War I, that same boy now an old man again reminded the church about the original prophetic word and this time the Kardashian family along with others responded moving to the US in 1913 — undoubtedly saving them from the Armenian genocide that followed soon after.

Because of the previous outpouring of the Holy Spirit on their group, the Molokans would play a key role in the Azusa Street Revival.

  1. I would not want my life to be on continual display for fools like me to judge, but, I have to admit I am surprised. Joining the Apostle Paul, I only know myself to be the worst Christian I know. But oh, I hope to convert my desires to His delights (Ps 37:4). Thanks for the post. I’ll get on that 2X4 in my eye.
