Finnish reporter Aishi Zidan was in Gaza to do one thing – report on the suffering of the Gaza people because of Israel’s battle with Hamas terrorists. Instead, she inadvertently confirmed exactly what Israel has said from the beginning of the conflict, that Hamas was intentionally endangering Gaza civilians by using them as a protective shield.
As Zidan was doing her report for Finland’s Helsingin Sanomat, she stated without thinking that at 2 am she noticed that Hamas was launching a missile from the backyard of the Gaza-based Shifa Hospital — yes a hospital.
A translation of her comments, provided by The Blaze, reads:
“Also, a rocket attack was conducted from the ‘backyard’ of the hospital at 2 o’clock in the morning. It [the rocket launch] happened close by because the noise right here at the hospital area was really loud. Indeed these rockets launched here from the Gazan side (of the border) are headed to Israel.”
After reporting this, Zidan became indignant when Israel used her media coverage as evidence that Hamas terrorists were purposefully embedding themselves among civilians hoping any Israeli counter-strikes would result in civilian casualties.
Zidan took to Facebook claiming on one hand she just truthfully reported what she saw, but when this truth was instead used to explain the realities of the Gaza war — an opinion she did not share — Zidan angrily said:
“My story became quickly a tool of propaganda. The people sharing this story are not even trying to understand the situation as a whole. They are just looking for excuses to Israeli actions in Gaza. I refuse to be part of this kind of propaganda.”
Where was her anger at Hamas for deliberately using a hospital as a shield to attack Israel?
Hamas ‘Urban Warfare’ manual discovered
Shortly after Zidan’s report, the IDF released an “Urban Warfare” training manual used by Hamas. The manual — found during an intense battle with Hamas extremists in the Gaza City suburb of Shujaiya — showed Hamas purposefully endangers civilians as part of its strategy.
As reported by Arutz Sheva, the manual stated using civilians as human shields helps the terrorist cause in a many ways:
First it limits the firepower Israel is willing to bring against Hamas — this supports what Israel has said from the beginning that it is trying to limit civilian casualties.
In addition, the manual says setting up their missile launchers in residential areas (or even hospitals) will prove beneficial even if the people leave as their destroyed homes will play well in the press.
The manual added seeing their homes destroyed will also incite the people against Israel. This was an odd statement as it suggests Gazans are obviously not totally behind Hamas and its goal to exterminate Israel.
The manual goes on to say, that civilians should be encouraged to stay in their homes thus increasing civilian casualties.
It is a script that Hamas leaders have followed closely. In the video below, you can watch Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri on Al-Aqsa TV not only admitting Hamas is using civilians as a shield but he encourages the Gaza people to stay in their homes.
The real enemy of the people of Gaza is not Israel, it is Hamas extremists.
