Dr. Jenis av Rana is a doctor on the Faroe Islands located nearly halfway between Iceland and Norway. With ties to Denmark, the island is home to about 48,000 people

Dr. Rana was presenting at the World Christian Doctor’s Network annual meeting held in Sofia, Bulgaria May 9-10, 2014. Each year, Christian doctors gather from around the world for fellowship and to share documented testimonies of healings.

In his presentation, Dr. Rana spoke of the miraculous healing of a popular worship leader and song writer on the island — Eyðun Jacobsen.

In November 2010, while at work, Jacobsen, 59, complained of a sudden and severe headache, saying it felt like his head had exploded. He was rushed to hospital in Torshavn, the capital city of the Faroe Island.

Dr. Rana said:

“He had almost no strength in his left hand and they had to catch him or he would fall when trying to walk.”

The doctors concluded Eyðun had suffered from a cerebral infarction or a stroke in the right side of his brain. Strokes happen as a result of a blockage of a blood vessel in the brain.

Rana told the gathered group of about 240 delegates from 38 countries that after four months of therapy, there was little improvement in Jacobsen’s condition. He was still weak on the left side of his body and there were signs of atrophy where the affected limbs begin to shrink from lack of usage.

Doctors prepared Eyðun and his family for a life of disability.

However, that all miraculously changed at a house meeting in March 2011.

Rana said:

“But then, at a meeting in his home church, Jesus healed him! That evening Eyðun was disappointed and left the meeting, but his youngest daughter begged him to come back. There, two young men prayed for him and He was totally healed!

“Eyoun said, ‘I felt, a warm flow that started in my head and spread through my left arm and into the right leg. Suddenly I could clench my left hand and use my left leg as well as before I got ill’”.

“Back at the hospital, they found and verified a complete healing. The pain had disappeared from his shoulder and knee, and the power and the mobility was returned to normal.

“Since that healing on March 3, 2011, Eyoun has not had the slightest neurological symptoms.”

Eyðun’s doctors verified his complete healing.

Rana added there have been a number of healings on the Faroe Islands as God is moving in a miraculous way.

Did Jesus heal a man with a stroke?

Though we can’t be absolutely certain, the Bible records an instance where Jesus may have healed a man who suffered a stroke.

While attending a local synagogue, Jesus met a man with a withered hand (Matthew 12:9-13). The Greek word for wither “xeraino” is commonly used to describe dried up and shrunken plants (see Matthew 13:6).

When the same word is used to describe this man’s hand, it could be describing atrophy or shrinkage due to lack of use — one of the classic signs of a stroke.  Since atrophy can also happen due to other reasons, we can’t be absolutely certain a stroke caused the man’s condition.

But as in the case of Eyðun, Jesus completely healed the hand.

The Biblical healing gets lost in a controversy surrounding the incident when the scribes and pharisees in attendance accused Jesus of healing on the sabbath. Notice how Jesus countered their accusations:

And He said to them, “What man is there among you who has a sheep, and if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out? 12 How much more valuable then is a man than a sheep! So then, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”  (Matthew 12:11-12 NASV)

It is a problem even then where it seems animals have more value than humans. Jesus said each of His critics would rescue a sheep that had fallen into a pit on the Sabbath, but when the same opportunity is given to heal a man on the Sabbath, they rise up to condemn the action.
