Despite increasing persecution, Christianity growing in Indonesia

It defies logic, but according to a report by the Indonesian government, the Christian population in that Muslim-dominated country has grown by 1% over the past decade. With just over 86% of Indonesia’s population (272.2 million) identifying as Muslim, the country has the largest muslim population (236 million) of any country in the world. But the growth of Christianity is interesting considering the emergence of several Muslim extremist groups in recent years, that have been ramping up their persecution of Christians. This past spring, the government was forced to increase security for churches during Easter services after two militants, a husband and wife, who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic extremist group, ISIS, blew themselves up outside a church the previous Palm Sunday, injuring 20. Yet, despite this growing persecution, International Concern reports that as of June 2021, the government reported that 10.58% of its population is Christian (comprised of 20.4 million protests and 8.4 million Catholics). This is up from 9.87% of its population reporting as Christian in 2010. In real numbers, the Christian …

Meet Portland’s new ‘woke’ police force

It’s Portland, which may explain everything. But recently, there was a demonstration of how ‘woke’ the Portland police have become. The Blaze reports that police were called because someone was pounding on the backdoor of restaurant. The indoor dining was closed, but the employees were working the drive through. The police showed up with what is described as an Enhanced Crisis Intervention Team (ECIT) officer who was apparently running the show. The ECIT officer tried to softly talk the man out of breaking into the restaurant. Sadly, the man refused to listen to the ECIT’s psychologically formulated arguments, so the police ‘slowly’ backed away giving the man ‘space’ to continue breaking through the back door. By this point, he was using a grapefruit-sized rock and the employees inside the restaurant were hiding in the restaurant’s freezer. With the police and ECIT officer watching from afar, the man finally broke through the door. With people inside now in danger, the police decided they should probably do something, but the man barricaded himself inside the employee’s break …

Have archaeologists found the location of Mt Horeb, where Moses delivered the Ten Commandments?

There has been some interesting archaeological developments recently challenging long held Christian views on Israel’s exodus from Egypt under Moses. If you want to find archaeological evidence of Israel’s departure from Egypt, you need to look about 300 years earlier to the reign of Pharaoh Ahmose I (1550-1525 BC) rather than Pharaoh Ramesses II (1279 BC to 1213/12 BC) who has traditionally been considered the Pharaoh of the Exodus. The Ipuwer Papyrus dated to 1550 BC, provides a breakdown of several of the plagues mentioned in Book of Exodus. And now archaeologists are suggesting there is evidence of the location of Mt Horeb, also referred to as Mt Sinai, where Moses delivered the Ten Commandments, but it requires a major rethink of where it took place. Most Christians believe that Mt Horeb is located somewhere in today’s Sinai Peninsula. Though there has been no archaeological evidence supporting this, that isn’t necessarily unexpected because the Israelis were living in tents and would have left a very small footprint for archaeologists to discover. But according to researchers …

Dem lawmaker calls for men to receive vasectomies after 3 children

According to Faithwire, a Democrat lawmaker in Pennsylvania has introduced a bill in the state legislature that would force men who have had either three children or are above the age of 40 (which ever comes first) to have a vasectomy. The bill introduced by Rep Chris Rabb (D), that refers to men as inseminators, requires them to have a vasectomy within six weeks of the birth of a third child. It would also give women who get pregnant the right to sue any man in violation of the above restrictions and also offers a $10,000 reward to any person who exposes a man in violation of the law. The proposed legislation was a mocking response to a bill recently passed in Texas prohibiting abortions after the baby has its first heart beat that typically takes place around the sixth week. Missing in all of this is any serious discussion on when life begins in the womb. Why did Communist China start doubling its order for COVID tests in May 2019?

The Daily Mail reports that Internet 2.0 (a group of US and Australian researchers) found evidence, that the Chinese province of Hubei (where Wuhan is located), the Wuhan Institute of Virology and Wuhan University of Science and Technology, were ordering an unusual number of PCR tests and machines used to test for COVID and other diseases back in May 2019.

The Cure for Fear

Last week, I wrote about not fearing Covid. Respecting it and doing what you can to reduce your risks of contacting it is not fear. It is common sense. Fear is rampart these days. People have allowed fear to disrupt their lives, weaken relationships, and alter their daily routines. So how do we deal with such fear, especially when it seems almost warranted? The Bible has the answer: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear…” (1 John 4:18) Doesn’t this sound good? No fear in love? So, the answer is to love. But it is more than that. I have some good friends who love their spouses and their children dearly and are still fearful that they will not survive covid. Christian platitudes and slogan sayers claim that that fear is the opposite of faith and therefore these people don’t have enough faith. I challenge those people to lay next to their wives and listen to them wheezing and coughing as they struggle for their next breath. Yes, fear is …
