For the past few days, there have been reports of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Florida’s Southeastern University (SEU), CBN reports.

Located in Lakeland, Florida, Southeastern has a student population of 10,000 and is operated by the Assemblies of God. It offers over 50 Bachelor’s degrees and 26 Masters and two doctoral programs.

For the past couple of years, there have been reports of God moving on universities across the US. Those were typically one day events, but the one at Southeastern has turned into something different. It has been going on for a few days. Many are comparing it to Asbury University revival in 2023 that went on for over two weeks..

Southeastern had originally scheduled a three-day conference that started on Monday, February 9, 2026 and was supposed to end on Wednesday, February 12.

But that changed during a Wednesday morning session, when speaker Jennie Allen gave a call for the students to repent by loudly shouting out their sin. Allen is popular Christian author, podcaster and speaker.

The organizers didn’t know how the students would respond to this public confession of sin..

What happened next was unexpected.

What she did was she asked students to confess sin publicly and as loud as possible,” said Southeastern Campus pastor, Jonathan Rivera, in an interview with CBN. “At first, we were kind of like, we don’t know how this is going to look or where it’s going to go, and students literally leaned in completely and started shouting as loud as they could, confessing sin, burdens, issues, all kinds of stuff. And after that happened, something shifted in the room, something undeniable happened that we all felt.”

What caught my attention is that there was distinct shift in the meeting after students publicly shouted out their repentance for about 15 minutes.

With students still responding to Allen’s call, the lunch and break out sessions scheduled for the afternoon were canceled as were the classes.

It continued on to the evening service. Since they were renting a church building, at 10:30 that night, they moved the meeting to the University’s chapel.

The prayer and worship continued all night.

The next day, Southeastern canceled classes and the meetings will continue as long as students are responding.

But what caught my attention was the willingness of students to publicly confess their sin. James encourages us to do just that writing, “Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed” (James 5:16 NASV)

Notice how James writes that healings (both physical and spiritual) comes after this public confession. According to the organizers reports of healing have been coming in from both those in attendance and people watching online.

The connection between repentance and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit was made by the apostle Peter in his sermon on the Day of Pentecost:

“Therefore repent and turn back so that your sins may be wiped out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and so that he may send the Messiah appointed for you—that is, Jesus. (Acts 3:19-20 NET)

In this verse, Peter talks of times of refreshing coming from the presence literally Face of the Lord. But this refreshing happens after repentance.

Vincent’s Word Studies states that the Greek word ‘karios’, translated as ‘times’ in this verse, is better rendered seasons. This tells us that that these unique movings of the Holy Spirit are not intended to be one day events, but rather an extended outpouring.

Because of Israel’s hot climate, the word refreshing is literally the Greek word for cooling or ‘reviving with fresh air’. It means to bring relief during times of oppression.
