According to Gateway Pundit, the New Year’s celebration that took place on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on December 31, 2025 set a world record.
This is based on estimated crowd of 2.5 million people who showed up to celebrate the arrival of 2026.
“Rio’s New Year’s Eve celebration has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the Biggest New Year’s Eve Celebration in the World,” Guinness officials stated in their announcement.
But what was even more stunning is that event organizers used 1,200 synchronized drones to reveal a massive image of Christ the Redeemer rising out of the ocean against the night sky.
It took a few minutes for the crowd to realize what was appearing before them. But once it became clear Brazilians responded with a massive roar of approval.
Additionally to the crowd, millions around the world saw it through TV and video broadcasts.

The image was patterned off the 30 meter (98 foot) Christ the Redeemer statue that towers over Rio de Janeiro.
The positive response to the unveiling may be reflecting a shift in Brazil’s spiritual climate.
CBN is reporting that an outpouring of the Holy Spirit is taking place in Brazil’s Amazon jungle. Missionaries reported over 14,500 water baptisms in the first six months of 2025.
Though the final count is not in, they are expecting that number will hit 30,000 by the end of the year, as they are witnessing a marked response to the Gospel in Brazil’s northwestern region.
But Brazilians are not only lifting up Christ in Brazil, it is also happening in Britain, according to Premier Christian News.
Brazilian soccer player, Gabriel Jesus, may be in trouble with the FA. This is because he pulled up his jersey during a Premier League game exposing his undershirt with the words “I belong to Jesus” printed on it.
The striker was celebrating scoring the fourth goal in Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday, Dec 30, 2025.
It was the first goal Gabriel had scored after returning to play in early December after a year long injury.
In an interview with Sky News after the game, Gabriel said:
“Through this tough moment in my lie, I realized that we are noting without Jesus, so I want to glorify His name because he made a huge difference. Now in this shining moment, I want to glorify His Name.”
“It’s amazing how Jesus works in our lives. Sometimes you keep questioning, doubting yourself. But you never know what Jesus prepares for you.
“Just keep going, trust in the process and trust in Jesus.”
Gabriel may face a reckoning with the FA over the incident. The soccer regulator forbids political and religious messages on player equipment. But if earlier infractions are any indication, Gabriel may only get a warning not to do it again.
Arsenal has several players who have embraced Christ and are known collectively as the Bible Brothers.
