I was shocked to hear about the assassination of Charlie Kirk at an event at the Utah Valley University on Wednesday, Sept 10, 2025.

Charlie was a popular conservative influencer. He helped found Turning Point USA, whose goal is to influence young people on conservative values.

As part of this, Charlie would hold events on university campuses, where he openly engaged students on major cultural issues. It was at such an event where Charlie was murdered.

Charlie, 31, was a Christian and openly defended his faith. He leaves behind a wife and two small children.

I was angry when I first heard the news. When you get angry, your mind turns to thoughts of revenge and catching the assassin and those responsible.

Some of the hardest words that Jesus uttered were “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

In other words, we are to pray and forgive those behind the assassination of Charlie. As Jesus stated, “so that you may prove yourselves to be sons of your Father who is in heaven” (v 45).

The Apostle Paul took it one step further. He stated that our battle is not with ‘flesh and blood’ but against principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12).

The real enemy is not people, but dark spiritual forces.

Witches Paid to Curse Charlie Kirk

We may have a glimpse of this in an article published on September 8, 2025 on Jezebel.com entitled: “We Paid Some Etsy Witches to Curse Charlie Kirk”.¹ As the post’s title suggests, the author paid three witches at the end of August to curse Charlie Kirk.

As also noted in the headline, the witches were found on Etsy.

In the article, the author clarifies that “I’m not calling on dark forces to cause him harm. I just want him to wake up every morning with an inexplicable zit.” The writer also included having his microphone quit working and his suit being too small as part of these inconveniences.

The author added that the curses were timed with the new moon on August 23.

The first witch performed a spell to “MAKE EVERYONE HATE HIM.” For an additional $50, the witch added she could supercharge this curse.

The second performed a “POWERFUL HEX SPELL.” She asked for the date of Charlie’s birth because it would increase the power of the hex. The witch added that the author would see results within two to three weeks.

The third witch showed proof of her curse by sending an image of Charlie’s photo burning up in flames. The witch also stated that she has seen an uptake in requests for curses on political figures.

In an article for the Western Standard, Lee Harding writes that Charlie was aware of this article at Jezebel.com:

“Kirk posted a picture of the article on his Instagram stories on September 9 and responded with a biblical quote from the ninth verse of Jude: “But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!‘”

Following Charlie’s assassination, the website issued a statement that the article was satirical. It added that “Jezebel condemned the shooting of Charlie Kirk in the strongest possible terms. We do not endorse, encourage, or excuse political violence of any kind.” 

Whether you believe these curses had an impact or not, there is a spiritual battle raging around us.

Unfortunately, there will be real casualties. In the Book of Acts, Stephen (Acts 6) and James, the brother of John, (Acts 12:2) were martyred for their faith.

But I believe God’s word, that He will bring good out of this (Romans 8:28).

I pray that God will replace Charlie Kirk with a thousand voices speaking the truth like him.
