An interesting development in Israel has some believing that the building of a third Jewish temple in Jerusalem may be imminent. It involved a video of a Jewish politician helping carve blocks necessary for the temple’s construction, Israel365 News reports.

Jesus prophesied the destruction of the Jewish Temple by the Romans in 70 AD, while the Lord and the disciples were visiting the temple.

Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down,” Jesus said (Matthew 24:12).

Since its destruction, there has been an interest in building a third temple among orthodox Jews and also from Christians, who believe that this would be a fulfillment of the end-times prophecy (Revelation 11:1-2).

Over the past several years, Orthodox Jews in Israel have been making preparations for the temple’s construction, including creating all the necessary utensils and furniture (except the Ark of the Covenant). This also includes selecting and training priests and acquiring red heifers necessary for the purification of the priests for Temple service.

Orthodox Jews have also been carving stones by hand to be used in its construction. According to the law, the blocks had to be created far enough away from the Temple site, that you could not hear them being carved. The stones will be stored until the Temple’s construction has been approved.

While religious Jews are making preparations, what has been sorely lacking is the political will to do it.

Though Israel ultimately controls the Temple Mount, where the original Jewish Temple once stood, the Muslims at this point are allowed to control the site through the Jordanian Waqf.

The Waqf has not only limited Jewish access to the Temple Mount but forbade Jews from praying on the mount, forcing them to pray at the Western Wall.

The Muslims, who also have two buildings on the Temple Mount (Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock), are adamantly opposed to the building of a Jewish temple, even though there is room.

In fact, leaders of the Hamas terrorist group who attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, have publicly stated that one of the motivations behind their invasion was to stop the construction of a Jewish temple.

Because of this opposition, politicians are reluctant to publicly support a third Jewish temple, as it would undoubtedly inflame an already heated situation.

So when a Jewish politician, Moshe Feiglin, who heads the Zehut political party, recently helped chisel blocks needed for the temple’s construction at the town of Eli, the Jewish Orthodox New site, Israel365 News, published an article heralding the event.

“This was a very moving experience for me,” Feiglin said in his interview with Israel365 News. Feiglin prayed that as he carved stones in his service to God, God would carve him to serve humanity better.

“The deepest prayers of the nation of Israel are appearing in reality today,” Feiglin added.

Over the years, Feiglin has been supportive of a third temple.

“I don’t know if I will have the merit of doing something that is the aspiration of every Jew,” Feiglin told the Jerusalem Post in 2009. “But if I become prime minister, I will take away control over the Temple Mount from the Wakf [the Islamic trust] and reinstate Jewish sovereignty over the entire Mount and, hopefully, rebuild the Temple.”

Until last year, Feiglin was part of the coalition helping the ruling minority government stay in power but resigned his seat over disagreements with government policy.
