Thousands of people follow World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Though I don’t, as a young teen I used to, or at least its equivalent, decades back.
Every Saturday, I would faithfully turn on the TV to watch my favorite wrestling show, and suffered horrible mocking for doing so.
I suspect not much has changed today.
By the size of the crowds that come to watch its shows, WWE has a large, loyal following, many of them teen boys.
So it caught my attention, when WWE wrestling star, Jeffrey Sciullo, who goes by the stage name of Elias, announced that he is hanging up his wrestling boots, to go full-time into preaching the Gospel, Breitbart reports.
He came to this decision after being released from his contract in September 2023 and this decision even comes with a change in his stage name from Elias, to Elijah.
In a recent TikTok Video, Elijah, who has been outspoken about his faith throughout his wrestling career, said “The good news of the Gospel is Jesus. We need to make a big deal about what went down on the cross.”
“We need to see everything through the lens of the finished work on the cross. You know, that event that splits human history in half?”, Elijah added.
He is also an accomplished singer, that was featured several times in WWE events, as he was portrayed as the singing wrestler who used music to mock his opponents.
However, he also produced an album in 2020, entitled Universal Truth, in conjunction with the WWE Music Group, It had a distinct gospel message, which included his hit single, Amen.
