Parents of teenagers attending a high school in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, were outraged when pamphlets were handed out at a wellness fair on how students could safely take illicit drugs such as Meth and cocaine.
This allegedly included a pamphlet on how to safely use a meth pipe.
From the Lethbridge News Now:
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat High School received backlash on Thursday, December 14, 2023, after students saw instructions for how to safely prepare illicit substances for consumption earlier this week.
The instructions were of part of just one of several pamphlets distributed at a wellness fair on Tuesday.
Pamphlets included “Safer Crystal Meth Smoking“, “Safe Crack Smoking” and “Safer Snorting” — outlining ways to smoke crystal meth and crack while outlining safe supplies to use.
One parent asked her child what she had learned at school that day:
“I want to know about her chemistry tests, not what she learned about smoking meth,” the mother said.
To its credit, the school told the organization behind this to remove the pamphlets, shortly after the school found out about them. The principal later sent out a letter apologizing to the parents.
But let’s take a look at what other groups have to say about the ‘safe usage’ of Crystal Meth and cocaine:
“Crystal meth is the common name for crystal methamphetamine, a strong and highly addictive drug that affects the central nervous system. There is no legal use for it.” — WEB MD
“Cocaine and crack are powerful stimulants and highly addictive. Their effects on your physical and mental health can be serious and sometimes fatal.” — Government of Canada
