Standing man with mouth and hands covered by duct tape preventing speech,

Welcome to 1984‘s dystopia.

In what can only be described as both disgusting and disturbing, two Calgary men were detained by police, which resulted in one being handcuffed, for having a private conversation on city transit, Life Site News reports.

Were the two discussing a drug deal?
Were they discussing a possible murder plot?
Were they discussing their next bank heist?

No, the two men were on their way to participate in a rally held in Calgary on Sept. 20, 2023, as part of the Canada-wide Million-Person March that championed the rights of parents and children in the gender ideology debate.

Apparently, someone on the train was listening in on their private conversation, became offended, and called the police.

When the two men got off the train they were met by police detained and charged.

According to Life Site News, Calgary has a bylaw that forbids interfering “with the comfort, convenience, or quiet use and enjoyment of the transit system of any reasonable person.”

Despite several requests by The Democracy Fund, which was representing the two men, the city refused to provide the details of the conversation that allegedly violated the city bylaw.

The case was set to go to trial on Nov. 14, 2023, however, the city of Calgary has since dropped all charges. By doing so, the city is under no legal obligation to provide the details of what parts of that private conversation resulted in the charge.

Human rights organizations have raised concerns about Calgary’s bylaw that restricts what it considers to be controversial, but not illegal, conversations.
