Left-wing activists across Canada have been hounding governments to provide so-called safe drugs and paraphernalia to addicts in order to feed their addictions.

It is now considered the progressive thing to do by left-wing governments.

In fact, just recently the city of Toronto spent over $33,000 on the branding for its government-supplied crack pipes. We are not talking about money for the drug paraphernalia itself, but simply for the branding to make sure the city of Toronto’s name was front and center on the freebees.

Though over the past several years, it was considered political suicide to oppose this woke agenda, a number of addiction specialists have started pushing back stating that these free drugs are actually making the problems worse.

In his article for the National Post, Adam Zivo explains:

Earlier this month, a group of 35 addiction experts released yet another public letter calling upon the federal government to fix Canada’s failing “safer supply” drug experiment. A year ago this would have been unthinkable — but it seems that the wall of silence around safer supply is crumbling, despite activist-led efforts to discredit critics.

The new letter states that there is “accumulating evidence” that safer supply programs are being widely abused and that the taxpayer-funded opioids being distributed through them are being resold (“diverted”) on the black market.

These diverted drugs, which are as potent as heroin, are ending up in the hands of youth, recovering addicts and people who don’t normally use opioids. This has put Canadians at “grave risk for harm, including addiction, injection-related infections, transitioning to fentanyl and overdose deat
h.”
