Police in Watertown, Wisconsin, arrested four young Christian men on Saturday, July 29, 2023, who were protesting a drag queen show being held in a city park, CBN reports.
According to a video posted on social media, the police arrested one man, Marcus Schroeder, as he read the Bible over a loudspeaker while standing on a public sidewalk.
The video shows a police officer grabbing the microphone out of Schroeder’s hand and then shows him being led away in handcuffs by three police officers.
Three others had been arrested earlier in the day who had gathered to pray in the park.
According to the report, the four were at the park protesting a drag show that allegedly featured drag queens gyrating in front of children while wearing lingerie.
There was an immediate backlash on social media to the heavy handed actions of the police, who were accused of violating the four men’s First Amendment Rights.
A report in The Sentinel stated that city leaders had ordered police to make the arrests.
