‘The Voice’ contestant stuns judges by singing worship song ‘Gratitude’

Bodie Kuljian’s recent performance of a worship song on The Voice, left judges speechless and others in tears according to several reports.

Bodie, 29, is from Orange County, California. He is a worship leader at his local church and teaches songwriting and coaches a musical group at Vanguard University.

During the first night of this season’s two-part finale, Bodie sang “Gratitude” written by Christian recording artist Brandon Lake.

Though Bodie placed second in the competition behind Bryce Leatherwood, his performance impacted the judges.

“I’m choking on my tears over here,” said judge Gwen Stefani. “You have a superpower behind you; it’s a truth. I think it comes from your pure faith that you have. … I can’t even speak right now. That was so beautiful.”

Stefani’s husband, Blake Shelton who also served as Bodie’s coach during the competition described the performance as “one of the most moving performances I’ve seen in a long time on this show.”

Brandon Lake, who is associated with Bethel Music, recorded his experience of watching Bodie perform “Gratitude “on Instagram.

Lake’s wife Brittany had actually signed up her husband for an audition on The Voice, but Lake declined, stating that God told him, that it was not part of his story.
