It may be the biggest upset of the year in college football as unranked Texas A&M defeated No 1 ranked Alabama with no time left on the clock as Seth Small kicked a 28-yard field goal to help his team win the game 41-38.
The loss snapped Alabama’s 100 game winning streak against unranked opponents and was definitely a David and Goliath moment in college sports.
So, perhaps it was no surprise that as the two teams battled, with the lead changing several times, that as Small went onto the field for the final kick, he was quoting a verse from a Psalm also written by King David to help deal with the intense pressure:
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not be in want. (Psalm 23:1)
The SportSpectrum reports when asked by the media after the game if this was the greatest moment in his life, Small actually ranked it third:
“It was probably the third best moment of my life, right after I accepted Jesus into my heart as my true Lord and Savior, and then after getting married to my wife this summer. I’d rank this one three.”
